Job Summary

Responsible for aligning strategies, operations, and physician relationships within the physician practice enterprise regions for the employed physicians within the Physician Organization. Key areas of responsibility include: direction and decision-making, financial performance, compliance, patient satisfaction, and productivity of all territories. This position is also responsible for promoting positive relations among medical staff and personnel. The VP, Operations reports directly to the CEO of the Memorial Hermann Medical Group and has an integrated dyadic working relationship with the VP and CMO of Medical Operations and the VP of Nursing Operations. All directors of business operations for patient centered medical homes, specialty practices, Urgent Care centers, Occupational Medicine, and Employer Solutions will report to this VP. The VP of Operations will also oversee Virtual Medicine development and implementation, Clinical Access Center growth, and integration of Consumer Solutions strategies. The position has direct oversight of strategic business development, provider network development, and recruitment. The incumbent also participates in system-wide initiatives to promote efficiencies and cooperation across system divisions in acute care, ancillary services, ambulatory services and insurance divisions. Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge in the eight domains of medical practice management: business operations, financial management, human resource management, information management, organizational governance, patient care systems, risk management, and quality management.Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master's Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration, or equivalent is required.

Licenses/Certifications: Fellowship status in ACHE or MGMA is required within one (1) year of assuming this position.

Experience / Knowledge /

  • Experience: Ten (10) years of progressive leadership in healthcare.

  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills; must demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to achieving customer satisfaction.

  • Exceptional leadership abilities to influence and engage the workforce to drive exceptional end-to-end delivery of care.

  • Computer literate; Microsoft Office competency required; clinical information systems is preferred.

Principle Accountabilities:

Operational Performance-

  • Develops plans and objectives for the Regional Directors of Business Operations, in which they are accountable for maintaining an operating environment in which policies, personnel, systems, and processes are systematic, aligned, and conducive to cost effective operations throughout the regions.

Strategic Planning-

  • Directs in the development of both strategic and tactical organizational planning to support the mission and goals of the Physician Practices within the Physician Organization, including the PCMH offices in convenient care centers.

  • Responsible for monitoring and communicating the strategic plan's execution. Partners with the campus CEO's as necessary to drive enterprise-wide strategy.

  • Assists in the assessment of acquisition opportunities as well as the development of integration plans.

  • Directs, forecasts, and analyzes special projects.

Finance Management-

  • Ensures a culture that embraces collaboration, continuous financial and operational improvement while recognizing and implementing initiatives to optimize operations and profitability.

  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations

Performance Improvement-

  • Establishes and hardwires a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Possesses expert direct performance management acumen.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
