Overview
The Vice President of Total Rewards leads the compensation & benefits functions. This requires management, design, and implementation of innovative, best-in-class rewards strategies to attract, reward and retain top talent. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role is a key member of the senior leadership team, collaborating to develop a total rewards strategy that help drives the company's success. This position is the functional expert in total rewards strategies and HR operations and is responsible for broad-based and executive compensation, short- and long-term incentives, salary and hourly reviews, health, welfare, as well as the 401k plan. The VP provides consistent and proactive partnership with internal functions (Finance, Sales Ops, IT, etc.) and external partners/vendors, delivering creative and market-sensitive Total Rewards strategies that are consistent, scalable, and effective. This position is accountable for creating effective awards that motivate employees, ensuring a strategic design that aligns with company culture.
Responsibilities
Advise leadership on programs impacting the organization as a whole and collaborate with HR business partners to understand and address the unique needs of various client groups; collaborating with Finance, Legal, Payroll, Accounting, Tax, Equity Administration, and Corporate Communications as needed
Develop and execute a competitive and comprehensive Total Rewards strategy designed to attract and retain talent in a competitive environment and ever-changing economic landscape
Design and implement compensation and benefits strategies and programs that align with enterprise goals and priorities
Lead the development of overall compensation strategy, including long-term incentive design
Partner with outside experts, including consultants, carriers, third-party administrators, and outside counsel, for matters such as benchmarking, plan design, coverage, renewals, and communications
Serve as internal functional expert to our Compensation Committee, owning and driving agenda relevant to key focus areas
Act as the functional business owner for Total Rewards, guiding all prioritization decisions related to our systems and technology implementations and enhancements
Oversee and govern 3rd party service providers to ensure company needs are met, service delivery aligns with contractual expectations and that services budgets are managed
Effectively manage compensation programs in a geographically dispersed and partially remote workforce
Proactively predict markets and differing compensation strategies in various geographies
Leverage knowledge of market conditions and competitive talent landscape to design tailored strategies for compensation for key talent segments
Direct job analysis, evaluation, market pricing and salary survey initiatives in an open and transparent fashion
Oversee and govern non-cash programs, including recognition and rewards programs, to support our culture and overall engagement
Develop comprehensive and integrated communication strategies that drive awareness, adoption, and understanding of our programs
Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure our materials/collateral used for purposes of recruiting are competitive and drive our employee value proposition
Partner closely with stakeholders in development of key frameworks including - promotion guidelines, career ladders, levelling criteria/frameworks
Lead HR operational initiatives to ensure effective system integrations and compliant practices with state/federal laws.
Establish/maintain a high-performance team of professional, motivated, and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics

Qualifications
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resource or related field; Master's degree preferred
10 + years of progressive HR leadership experience that includes compensation and benefits design and administration and/or other related areas.
Knowledge base and experience should include government regulations as they apply to benefit programs, compensation programs, company policies, and operations
Experience in using HRIS and compensation management systems (Highly prefer experience using UKG and PayScale)
Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future HR trends and challenges and develop proactive solutions
Public company executive compensation experience including experience overseeing the preparation of compensation data for proxy disclosure and compensation committee meetings.
Skills
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in analyzing compensation data and market trends to make informed decisions
Rewards program design that enhances employee motivation and engagement
Strong communication skills to effectively convey total rewards strategies to senior leadership and employees
Lead and develop a team of compensation and benefits professionals
High level of understanding of financial principles and budgeting related to total rewards programs
Intermediate to advanced MS Office product knowledge and skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Advanced Excel skills are required for this role. Knowledge base and experience should include pivot tables, conditional formatting, v-look ups, x-look ups, data validation, charts, advanced formulas

Work Environment
Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
This position may be Remote, Hybrid or Onsite to meet business needs. Employees must meet minimum technical standards for eligibility and participation. Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures. Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions.
