The Vice President of Tax will have high visibility to executive management and the Company's audit committee of the Board of Directors. This position provides proactive leadership for the Company's tax function. The VP, Tax is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and defending tax strategies, tax compliance, and financial tax reporting.
Manages and ensures compliance with all aspects of tax reform and the possible impact of other current, proposed or future legislation related thereto.
Provides executive management with insight, advice and opinions related to various tax and operational strategies to ensure the optimum effective tax rate is achieved.
Manages compliance with GAAP, IFRS and SEC tax accounting.
Oversees the management of the effective tax rate forecast.
Oversees the quarter and annual tax provision process.
Monitors regulatory, macroeconomic and political environments where MDC/RAH conducts operations or has a significant presence for new and evolving tax risks and exposures.
Oversees the management of the tax and other related footnote disclosures.
Oversees tax reporting and compliance matters to ensure timely and accurate compliance with local tax office regulations.
Manages the relationship with all third-party tax consultants and co-source partners.
Oversees the management of all tax related audits.
Involved in the coordination of the Company's legal entity structure including the formation and modification of new entities and structures.
The tools for success
The incumbent selected for this role will have recent examples of leading tax teams and managing the tax function for a large corporation. Must be skilled in building a healthy business, tax processes and strategic frameworks, timely financial and management reporting and ultimately driving critical financial decisions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a tax organization, Big Four public accounting, law firm or a comparable corporate tax department. Other professional qualifications include:
Significant experience in tax planning, tax accounting, and tax reporting. Ideal candidates will be experienced professionals who are familiar with tax planning, reporting, compliance, and strategy and possess strong team leadership skills.
Experience in a complex company structure multi state operations.
Ability to identify issues quickly and manage key risks.
Ability to prioritize, problem solve and handle multiple tasks.
Innovative takes the initiative, highly motivated and change agent.
Insightful, with a point of view on relevant issues.
Executive presence and strong presentation skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with senior management, internal business units, and external advisors.
Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a focus on people development, knowledge sharing and encouraging the team to grow and take on new responsibilities.
Comfortable with bringing in and managing outside advisors as needed to assist on various tax matters.
