We have created a new role of Vice President Sustainability, reporting to our Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary. This is an integral role in a dedicated sustainability function.
This role will oversee the corporate sustainability strategy and will be responsible for developing the infrastructure that will enable us to be a leader in sustainable business practices. In this role you will identify external and internal sustainability trends, recognize risks and opportunities and use insights gained to formulate a competitive business strategy. You will work closely with our Leadership team to integrate sustainability into our strategic risk management processes.
Develop and deliver our corporate sustainability strategy
Lead the day to day function in support of corporate objectives
Enacts and oversees the integration of sustainability strategy into business strategy and operations and engage people across the Enterprise to influence the "sustainability journey".
Identifies, evaluates, approves, and sponsors pilot projects or programs meant to enhance the elements and ongoing development of the corporate sustainability strategy
Acts as an organizational spokesperson for sustainability
Acts as a liaison and communicates with the Board of Directors, Governance Committee, Executive Team, and Sustainability team
Reports on sustainability planning and progress to the Board of Directors
Directs the sustainability office and program operations to ensure compliance with environmental or governmental regulations
Generate and present annual sustainability reporting
Hire and lead required resources to effectively scale our sustainability department
Education & Experience
Successful completion of a degree in engineering, environmental science, environmental planning or a related field. A Master's degree would be considered an asset.
Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in leading teams in Power Generation or the Utilities for renewable energy and sustainability initiatives
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable and at ease in a lead presentation role.
An open and direct communicator who provides clear leadership to operations and has a results-oriented style.
A hands-on problem solver with a strong, practical business sense and a proven ability to analyze and interpret complex operational issues quickly and accurately.
Strong team building skills with the ability to recruit, develop, retain and mentor high quality people and build a high performing team.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Comfort with a constant and rapidly-growing, change management environment.
