Purpose

We have created a new role of Vice President Sustainability, reporting to our Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary. This is an integral role in a dedicated sustainability function.

This role will oversee the corporate sustainability strategy and will be responsible for developing the infrastructure that will enable us to be a leader in sustainable business practices. In this role you will identify external and internal sustainability trends, recognize risks and opportunities and use insights gained to formulate a competitive business strategy. You will work closely with our Leadership team to integrate sustainability into our strategic risk management processes.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and deliver our corporate sustainability strategy

  • Lead the day to day function in support of corporate objectives

  • Enacts and oversees the integration of sustainability strategy into business strategy and operations and engage people across the Enterprise to influence the "sustainability journey".

  • Identifies, evaluates, approves, and sponsors pilot projects or programs meant to enhance the elements and ongoing development of the corporate sustainability strategy

  • Acts as an organizational spokesperson for sustainability

  • Acts as a liaison and communicates with the Board of Directors, Governance Committee, Executive Team, and Sustainability team

  • Reports on sustainability planning and progress to the Board of Directors

  • Directs the sustainability office and program operations to ensure compliance with environmental or governmental regulations

  • Generate and present annual sustainability reporting

  • Hire and lead required resources to effectively scale our sustainability department

Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of a degree in engineering, environmental science, environmental planning or a related field. A Master's degree would be considered an asset.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in leading teams in Power Generation or the Utilities for renewable energy and sustainability initiatives

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable and at ease in a lead presentation role.

  • An open and direct communicator who provides clear leadership to operations and has a results-oriented style.

  • A hands-on problem solver with a strong, practical business sense and a proven ability to analyze and interpret complex operational issues quickly and accurately.

  • Strong team building skills with the ability to recruit, develop, retain and mentor high quality people and build a high performing team.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Comfort with a constant and rapidly-growing, change management environment.

As Corporate Counsel for IVS, this position has responsibility to provide and manage legal advice and services working in close cooperation with IVS business teams. This position will report to the Communication Systems Vice President, General Counsel. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Provide proactive and practical legal counsel and guidance to IVS business management and functional staff in regard to all general and specialized legal matters including federal, state and local law compliance as well as with a wide variety of international and commercial business transactions. * Support IVS contracts staff in the review, negotiation and approval of customer contracts and to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws, regulations and contractual requirements. * Partner with IVS leaders to assess, predict and manage legal and other risks in a growing business operating in mission-critical, high-risk environments. * Counsel IVS leaders regarding all legal issues related to their business, including day-to-day legal advice, legal issues that arise in strategic planning and changes in market approach, contract performance issues and disputes, and changes to laws and regulations that may impact the business. * Manage disputes, protest and litigation matters. Implement strategies related to dispute resolution and settlement. * Collaborate with operational, subcontracts and supply chain leadership to ensure that contractual and operational risks assumed by IVS are flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers. * Select and manage outside attorneys as needed for certain legal matters and disputes. * Develop, maintain and apply legal, compliance and business processes, practices and guidelines to promote timely and smooth contract performance and risk mitigation. * Ensure that IVS sector practices and procedures comply with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and are consistent with applicable corporate policies and procedures. * Coordinate the Communication Systems Vice President, General Counsel and, as necessary, the L3Harris Corporate General Counsel. * Maintain a high level of proficiency on current laws and implementing regulations, and coordinates with IVS staff to develop and deliver timely training, as appropriate. * Willingness to travel as business needs require. Qualifications: * Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and a state bar membership. * 10 years of government contracting, including state and local contracting, and commercial transactional experience, either with the U.S. government, law firm or as an in-house counsel.
