The Vice President of Student Services provides progressive visionary leadership for the total student services program including: admissions, records, recruiting, financial aid, athletics, career advising, enrollment and retention management, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title IX, student discipline, testing and student organizations. This position is not tenure eligible.

Salary:  Appropriate placement on the ACCS Salary Schedule B+: $98,957 - $154,937

  • Serve as a member of the executive team.

  • Coordinate the delivery of enrollment and retention functions to all campus locations.

  • Plan, manage and evaluate a comprehensive program for Student Services.

  • Provide leadership and supervision to employees in the Division of Student Services.

  • Participate in the governing system of the College, particularly in the area of long-range strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and policy formulation.

  • Plan, develop and administer the budget for the Student Services Division.

  • Approve purchase requests, leave forms and timesheets for Student Services personnel.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to faculty, staff and students.

  • Ensure the College serves the needs of the diverse student population by providing a broad array of student services.

  • Provide leadership in professional and staff development.

  • Assume leadership roles to ensure timely and accurate reporting required by institutional management, and State and Federal agencies.

  • Assess and evaluate the utilization and effectiveness of student services personnel.

  • Provide institutional leadership in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to include recruitment and retention activities.

  • Ensure that the Student Services Division follows and adheres to all College policies, the policies and procedures of the Alabama Community College System, and Southern Association of Colleges Commission on Colleges core requirements and standards.

  • Responsible for institutional compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • Represent the College at campus and community events.

  • Serve as a member of appropriate professional organizations.

  • Serve on and provide leadership for appropriate college committees.

  • Maintain or increase competency by seeking new knowledge, improving skills, and updating professional competencies.

  • Perform all duties with professionalism.

  • Perform all other such professional duties as assigned by the President.

  • A minimum of a Masters degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years' experience with documented progression in degree of complexity and responsibility for administrative task and leadership in student services or a closely related area is required.  Doctorate degree preferred.

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in postsecondary education is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient computer usage.

  • Understanding of the College's mission and vision.

  • Experience with Ellucian/Banner software system.

  • Confidence in decision making and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State policies and regulations.

  • Ability to read, interpret and explain policies and procedures.

  • Ability to interpret and apply statistical data in daily decision making.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public in a pleasant and effective manner.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds including students, parents, college employees, federal and state agency representatives and the public.

  • Ability to handle various situations in a calm and professional manner.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues.

  • Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times.

  • Ability to operate in a high pressure situation and respond to issues in a calm manner.

  • Conscientious- care about how work is done and wanting to do a good job.

  • Initiative- responding to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work.

  • A focus on details.

  • A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs.
