The Night Ministry is a Chicago based organization whose mission is to provide human connection, housing support, and health care to members of our community who are unhoused or experiencing poverty. We've successfully provided these lifesaving services for 45 plus years, everyday providing a lifeline to our most vulnerable neighbors. Join our growing team and collaborate closely with staff partners and dedicated supporters to amplify the impact and work of The Night Ministry. As Vice President of Programs & Services, you'll lead strategic planning and operations of all programs. Your role includes program leadership, external relations, and knowledge management, ensuring alignment with our mission and fostering growth. Reporting to the President & CEO, you'll maximize resources, foster collaboration, and promote continuous learning among staff.

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Vision & Leadership

  • Engage actively on TNM's Executive Team, contributing to strategic discussions for organizational growth.

  • Drive strategic recommendations and initiatives as a key decision-maker.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices, aligning them with TNM's goals and operations.

  • Collaborate with finance and advancement VPs to secure funding, ensuring resource stewardship.

  • Prioritize racial equity in program development and operations.

  • Contribute actively to the Strategic Leadership Team, implementing decisions and attending board meetings.

  • Represent TNM to external stakeholders and attend donor meetings.

  • Develop and manage systems for regulatory compliance.

Programs & Services Leadership

  • Lead strategic planning for TNM programs, fostering partnerships and innovation for goal implementation.

  • Provide staff leadership, oversee key directors and ensure program efficiency.

  • Direct efforts to optimize program structures for effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Utilize data insights to enhance program quality continuously.

  • Cultivate a culture of learning and responsiveness to client needs.

  • Integrate HR into program activities, supporting employee development.

Strategic Partnerships, Advocacy, and Community Relations

  • Serve as TNM's primary liaison to community leaders, government officials, and neighborhood groups.

  • Develop annual plans for advocacy, community education, and engagement.

  • Provide leadership and directly supervise the Director of Strategic Partnerships.

  • Recommend and facilitate potential partnerships to enhance TNM's effectiveness.

  • Engage in external committees, forums, conferences, and cultivation opportunities to advance TNM's mission.

  • Collaborate with the VP of Advancement to address issues impacting external stakeholders.

Team Building & Development

  • Supervise and coordinate Programs & Services Departments.

  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, high performance, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure administrative functions meet organizational growth needs.

  • Provide timely and relevant training for staff development.

  • Manage and evaluate staff performance, set goals, and administer appraisals and salary adjustments.

  • Mentor and develop staff collaboratively, assigning accountabilities and monitoring results.

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Leadership Team to establish HR policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • The VP of Programs and Services must fully align with TNM's strategy and mission, showcasing leadership, coaching, and donor management skills.

  • Bachelor's degree required, with preference for graduate qualifications in a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years' strategic administrative experience in rapidly evolving environments.

  • Minimum 10 years' progressive administrative experience in non-profit or similar diverse settings.

  • Proven track record in leading organizational transformation and change management.

  • Expertise in financial management and analysis, especially in non-profit settings.

  • Proactive leader adept at influencing and leading diverse teams and projects.

  • Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills with a focus on strategic partnerships.

  • Demonstrated success in setting priorities, shaping processes, and developing organizational infrastructure.

  • Proficient in project management, adept at meeting tight deadlines and goals.

  • Strategic thinker capable of managing multiple projects and emergent issues simultaneously.

  • Proven ability to set and exceed goals, demonstrating drive and motivation.

Compensation Range: $147,000-155,000

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is regularly required to talk or listen.

Benefits: Full-time staff are entitled to full benefits after 30 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and more, starting 30 days after their employment commences.

Work Environment: The Night Ministry does offer flexible remote work on a case-by-case basis. Up to 1 to 2 days of remote work can be scheduled per week with your direct supervisor. You would be expected to work general office hours between 9am to 5pm.
