We are seeking someone at a senior level (Director up to Vice President) who has the vision to make the Procurement function a competitive differentiator. Candidates must be passionate about improving the process, developing models to increase accuracy, maximizing ROI and developing people. Key responsibilities include domestic and overseas ordering, calculating stock levels, and maintaining the purchasing database through the accounting system. This role works very closely with the Product Development Team, our Taiwan Trading Company and the Distribution Centers to maintain data integrity for all products and to coordinate receiving, and the stock levels in each Distribution Center.

General Responsibilities

  • Directing overseas procurement of finished goods with experience of an annual spend of at least 50 million

  • Creates vision and strategy for continuous improvement to the end to end supply chain

  • Assess and understand forecasting methodology used to develop appropriate procurement strategy to minimize cost of potential errors

  • Effectively communicate results of KPIs, root cause analysis and present necessary action plans to management

  • Analyzes supply chain flow, identifies bottlenecks, problem areas, and critical control points and drives/influences innovative solutions

  • In charge of day to day Procurement operations and managing the Procurement team

  • Supports supplier business reviews to drive continuous improvement

  • Develops sourcing strategies to ensure business continuity and contingency planning (e.g., second sourcing.)

  • Domestic and overseas ordering

  • Calculate and maintain stock levels in each DC

  • Distribution center support for receiving of overseas and domestic products

  • Leads new system and process initiatives cross-functionally to increase the value delivered by procurement (e.g., lean, value engineering, etc.)

  • Researches, evaluates, develops, and implements leading edge supplier management tools and techniques.

  • Return defective products

  • Participate in selective customer meetings to support Merchandising especially for private label programs to understand their needs and then deliver products to fill their needs


  • Accomplish goals through strong business acumen, analytical processes, constant follow-up and accountability

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the policies, procedures, and procurement best practices

  • Control and improve Procurement and/or production cost through development of unique price and quality relationships at source and evaluating source alternatives

  • Ability to perform in a high pressure environment

  • The ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment

  • Track and conduct analysis on supply, price, and quality of purchased products against market and other economic drivers

  • Previous experience leading and managing a team


BA Degree and 10+ years in a similar sourcing and product management position for an Ecommerce retail or wholesale company.

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE Under the direction of the President of PC Business Unit and the Sr. Director of Global Procurement, the Dir. of Global Procurement Supply Chain - PC is responsible for: providing a cost effective, reliable, and high quality source of raw material supply for best in class materials management. Raw material sourcing is global and requires global coordination,Managing planning activities for PC facilities, and acting as the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) leader who manages the overall supply chain demand requirements. The Director of Global Procurement and Supply Chain - PC will also represent PC on the Materion Procurement Council and ensure all policies and procedures in the areas stated are followed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for procurement, demand and planning management of business with approximately $100 million in revenues * Manage and drive key planning functions and metrics including Inventory reduction, scheduling (including leveling process), on time delivery, logistics optimization, master data accuracy * Work with PC's VP of Operations to develop and deploy PC's first S&OP process * Develop monthly anticipated demand forecasts for the supply chain * Monitor, measure, and report on the supply chain's performance to plan providing detailed input to Sales and Marketing management for use at the S&OP meetings * Understand global and regional supply markets, including major suppliers and their capabilities, global capacity and demand, historical and projected price movements. * Work with BU leadership and center-led procurement to prioritize a portfolio of high‐value strategic sourcing opportunities. * Partner with the BU in evaluating and challenging the status quo. Ensure proper resourcing, and business support for annual value generation plans. * Drive and deliver competitive advantage and cost savings for Materion by managing the execution of world-class procurement operations. * Deliver the highest value through total cost of ownership solutions to the business. * Interface with business leadership to ensure that effective raw material spend management of the raw material spend portfolio occurs at all levels of the organization and that business requirements and needs are met. * Continually identify new short and long term improvement projects that result in measurable value to the Materion BU and the organization at large. * Ensure alignment and interface with other organizations to effectively execute sourcing strategies and procurement operations. * Drives the Supplier relationship activity to ensure continuous quality and delivery of supply to meet business demands. * Establishes supply chain contingency plans for sole source or critical items to prevent supply interruption. * Actively participate in the enforcement of all policies, rules, regulations as promulgated by the Sr. Director of Global Procurement. * Oversight for personnel responsible for the raw material, indirect and capital procurement operations at multiple facilities. Key responsibilities will be to ensure an uninterrupted supply of goods. * Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets specific to raw material, indirect and capital procurement and materials management. * Responsible for the development, monitoring, and benchmarking of key supply chain performance indicators, and using these indicators in operational decisions. Responsible to provide monthly activity and benchmarking reports to BU and Procurement leadership as required. * Establish supply chain contingency plans for sole source or critical items to prevent supply interruption. * Select, guide, train and motivate BU level category managers, purchasing managers and buyers to provide procurement services that optimize customer service, cost, quality, delivery, and inventory levels. * Regularly interface with the Field Sales Managers, Product Line Managers Managers, Sales Support Engineers, Customer Service, Master Planners, and the Production Planning group to effectively understand and communicate marketplace demand and resolve issues relating to this demand EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Four year technical degree in a chemistry, engineering, metallurgy, or material science. Advanced degree (MBA) preferred. * 15 years progressive supply chain management or operations management experience in a leading organization; including a minimum of 5 years in materials management, raw material procurement, interfacing with R&D, marketing, and operations to define material needs and at least 7 years managing a team of people. * SAP knowledge and/or experience in an ERP (enterprise resources planning) environment, with professional certifications (CPM, APICS) desired. * Solid understanding of contracting requirements. * Demonstrated experience with leveraged agreements and multi‐year contracts. * Established success with change management and working through organizational change. * Experienced with supply chain processes, preferably in a manufacturing environment. * Expert understanding of general P2P processes, systems, and concepts, including SAP. * Demonstrated leadership capability with success leading cross‐functional projects. Able to handle multiple internal customers. * Ability to create and execute a vision while collaboratively working towards executive organizational objectives. * Solid understanding of contracting requirements.
