Responsibilities

The Vice President, Oncology and Digestive Health Service Lines will assist in the further development and market differentiation of WellStar's oncology and digestive health service lines in the greater Atlanta market, with the goal of becoming the premier provider of services within the Southeast. The Vice President will develop and formalize an integrated service line approach to oncology and digestive health throughout the WellStar Health System, creating a WellStar Cancer Network Cabinet to service the oncological needs of the patients in WellStar's service area. The Vice President, Oncology and Digestive Health Service Lines works collaboratively with physicians, system leadership, hospital leadership teams and staff to ensure the service lines meets goals and objectives.

He/she will identify opportunities to grow the service lines by providing the highest quality outcomes and cancer treatment success rates as well as digestive health improvements. The ideal candidate will have both an entrepreneurial spirit and track record of developing and oncology growing service lines. He/she will also possess a strong operational foundation and an orientation to detail.

This leader will work to provide effective leadership with regard to finances, relationship development and management with key stakeholders and practicing physicians, strategic growth in a competitive market, and the ability to create and align a vision for the oncology and digestive health practices with larger organizational goals. Working in collaboration with the hospital presidents, operational leaders at all sites, and the leaders of the WellStar Medical Group, the VP will ensure that the service lines meet all of their goals. This position will actively participate in the developing of strategies, goals and tactics to enhance the offerings of WellStar Health System to providers and community partners.

The VP will assist in the further development and formalization of an integrated service line approach to oncology and digestive health throughout WellStar. This individual will transcend organizational silos to identify opportunities to grow and further integrate the oncology digestive health service lines with other areas.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: A masters degree in business administration, health administration or a related field is required.

Required Minimum Licensure/Certification: N/A

Required Minimum Experience: Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in healthcare operations with progressive experience leading multiple departments with at least 5 years in experience in oncology within an acute care hospital or physician group.

Knowledge of digestive health services is valued. Significant exposure to matrix operating structures and extensive experience with strategy development, program implementation, ambulatory services and/or hospital operations. Demonstrated ability to lead people through change processes and to execute on an organizational strategic plan.

Significant background in improving patient, employee, and physician satisfaction. A track record of effectively partnering and communicating with physicians to achieve objectives and results. A leader who enjoys collaborating with physicians and is viewed as a balanced leader and a champion for patient quality and clinical excellence.

A systems thinker who brings an ability to see the larger picture and fit primary into the framework of overall system design and success. A strength in financial and business operations and a strong analytical orientation

Required Minimum Skills:
Excellent physician relations skills and previous experience in growing volume.

Skills in relationship development and collaboration across a matrix environment to establish coordinated plans for growth and delivery of oncology for WellStar Health System. Proven, effective, and innovative business development expertise, experience, and skills gained within organizations known for leading edge program development and a commitment to excellence. Proven ability to manage the financial and capital resources of service groupings.

A strong customer focus while operating with a positive "can-do" philosophy and be a person of highest level of integrity. The ability to develop and implement long and short-range goals and plans. Skills including strategy development, program evaluation, budget preparation, and execution of programs and services to achieve quality standards.

Excellent understanding of clinical and technology trends related to the delivery of healthcare services. Excellent communication skills verbal, written, listening, and presentation along with the confidence to favorably represent the organization in both formal and informal settings. A leadership style, which emphasizes personal accountability and visibility within the system and within the community.

Responsibilities Playing a key role in the organization, the Vice President (VP), Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) will report to the Senior Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer (SVP/CIDO). The CMIO will champion and provide leadership for the on-going development, advancement and optimization of clinical systems and technology that impact patient care throughout the system and the communities it serves. The CMIO will be a key leader for the system and a strategic business partner to the SVP/CIDO. This individual will have executive responsibility for physician engagement, adoption, standardization and optimization of clinical systems and clinical informatics. The CMIO will have a number of clinical system support staff and physician champions reporting to position. In conjunction with the CIDO, the CMIO will formulate governance, address strategic goals and identify opportunities for enhanced use of clinical information systems and reporting/analysis tools. To that end, the CMIO will be expected to serve as the system's primary subject matter expert in the definition of clinical requirements for systems implementation and adoption for key stakeholder groups. This leader will have strong partnership for the strategic direction and oversight of clinical technical applications and reporting/analytics. Working closely with clinical leadership, the CMIO will provide region-wide clinical leadership to the clinical community and promote an environment of engagement, and strengthen communication between physicians, staff, hospital executive teams and leadership. In conjunction with the operational leadership, the CMIO will ensure that clinical systems implementation, value realization and stakeholder adoption are in alignment with, and supportive of operational and product line goals and objectives. This role will be largely dedicated to CMIO duties; however, 35% of time may be permitted for to medical practice. Qualifications Required Minimum Education: Medical Doctor (MD)/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); board certified in specialty of practice. Advanced Degree in Informatics, Health Care Administration, MBA or a related field is preferred. Minimum Licensure/Certification: Active MD/DO license with the State of Georgia with no restrictions. Must have an active BLS certification on the date of position start. Certification in one or more Epic applications preferred. Required Minimum Experience: Three-five years previous CMIO or similar experience in a multi-hospital integrated delivery system with a broad spectrum of employed specialty physician groups and ancillary services. Significant experience with the implementation and operation of Epic is required in a physician/executive leadership role as a CMIO or similar role within a multi-hospital, integrated medical group, delivery network. Previous experience in developing clinical performance measurement tools such as balanced scorecards, dashboards and real-time Key Performance indicators. Demonstrated success in using Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycle or other equivalent quality improvement processes and experience in project management to implement industry best practices Required Minimum Skills: • Analytical ability to conceptualize well in unstructured, dynamic, and/or multidisciplinary environments requiring analysis, foresight, intuition, critical thinking skills and mature judgment as well as a thorough knowledge of fundamental doctrines, theories, principles, and practices of several disciplines to find solutions to unusual or unprecedented problems.
