At Atria, we are recruiting for a Vice President of Human Resources. This is an exciting opportunity to build out the Human Resources function in a high-touch, start-up environment, leading the development and implementation of all HR policies, talent strategy, benefits, compliance, and programs for employee attraction, development and retention. This hands-on role will report to the COO. Salary is dependent on experience: $200,000 - $250,000/year.

Specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate with Atria leadership as a strategic advisor working to build Atrias brand as a top talent destination
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting process; identify opportunities and lead improvement initiatives related to employment brand management, candidate sourcing, interviewing best practices, and candidate evaluation; author compliant job descriptions
  • Develop and deliver compensation and benefits strategies that appropriately balance competitive market data and best practices, serve as attraction and retention tools, and align with Atrias culture and values
  • Develop and deploy effective performance management tools, including proper compensation, effective communications, timely training, goal setting, and effective performance appraisal
  • Provide high quality HR data, reporting, analyses, and deep business insights using appropriate HRIS technology
  • Partner with Atria leadership for DEI efforts that convey the company's values, set an example for employees, and help sustain momentum in continuous improvement
  • Lead a small and high performing team that is collaborative and provides high touch HR to employees


  • Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive human resources experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven success in managing full-cycle recruiting, payroll and compensation, benefits, compliance, training, development, and effective performance management
  • Prefer experience in a rapidly growing or start-up environment with a service orientation
  • Deep business acumen and either current knowledge or the ability to learn the healthcare space quickly
  • As a start-up, we need leaders that are willing to be hands-on, proactive, and innovative
  • Stellar communication and relationship building skills
  • Passionate about diversity, equality and inclusion values and initiatives
  • Able to work on site in NYC 50%+ of the time

The SVP will drive the communication and execution of corporate policy and people strategy in matters such as the hiring of talent, retention, employee development, and performance management.</p><p>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Responsible for managing day-to-day department operations, and closely aligning policies and practices for the HR team.</p></li><li><p>Develop and oversee the implementation of key HR initiatives that support the overall NYCEDC strategic plan.</p></li><li><p>Work with leaders and employees to establish and maintain a high-performance culture and positive work environment, encouraging the full use of diverse talents and abilities.</p></li><li><p>Liaise with the organization's department heads and provide comprehensive solutions and recommendations based on the needs of the group.</p></li><li><p>Provide leadership to senior management and staff on critical employee relations issues. Prevent and mitigate risk related to labor and employment issues.</p></li><li><p>Guide the work of the HR staff across the full spectrum of HR disciplines specifically in the areas of employee relations, performance management, succession planning, policies &amp; procedures, learning &amp; development, and other strategic projects.</p></li><li><p>Embed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion into all people processes, including further developing initiatives and measures of success for DE&amp;I at NYCEDC</p></li><li><p>Assess and guide implementation of all technology solutions to improve and streamline processes and increase efficiency.</p></li><li><p>Annually review and make recommendations to the Chief People Officer for improvement of company's policies, procedures, operations, practices etc.</p></li><li><p>Manage, develop, and ensure that HR staff are properly oriented to their positions.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for compliance with City, State and Federal legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.</p></li><li><p>Other duties as assigned</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent</p></li><li><p>10+ years of experience across a variety of HR functions with at least 3+ years of experience managing teams.</p></li><li><p>Deep knowledge in talent acquisition, organizational design, performance management, learning and development, and DEI programs</p></li><li><p>Experienced leadership and project management; strong interpersonal communications</p></li><li><p>Able to engage with key stakeholders and understand their needs and take a proactive approach to implementing ideas and solutions.</p></li><li><p>Ability to maintain confidentiality</p></li><li><p>Strong communications skills, both oral and written.</p></li><li><p>Experience in handling complex employee relations issues.</p></li><li><p>Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations, and best practices</p></li><li><p>New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire</p></li><li><p>All new hires must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus as defined by the CDC, unless they have been granted a reasonable accommodation for religion or disability</p></li></ul><p>Salary Range: $160,000 - 165,000</p><p>About Us: NYCEDC is New York City's primary vehicle for promoting economic growth in each of the five boroughs.
