Vatica has formed a new partnership with Frazier Healthcare Partners and is positioned for accelerated growth and long-term expansion of its technology and services.

The VP of Engineering will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of Vatica Health’s mission through development and deployment of the company’s products. Overseeing a team of four direct reports, this leader will be responsible for driving the creation, implementation, and enhancement of Vatica Health’s applications.

Essential Duties and Expected Outcomes:

The primary duties and expectations of this position include the following. Others may be assigned over time.

  • Drive successful execution of technical delivery, from conceptualization to go-to-market, in collaboration with product and executive leadership team.
  • Support an efficient planning process by creating technical designs that achieve the platform capabilities envisioned by product leadership.
  • Lead evaluation and re-alignment of resources and skillsets relative to the company’s strategic to Identify gaps and development milestones for the company’s engineering team, ensuring ongoing enhancement of capabilities.
  • Evaluate and optimize use of contract and offshore labor to access external expertise which drives down the cost of delivery and enables flexibility for scale.
  • Establish and maintain a data-driven culture to drive accountability in technical delivery and operations.
  • Proactively identify and build technical and data management capabilities that will enable AI and analytics initiatives that maximize efficiency and value for Vatica’s clients
  • Partner with head of infrastructure and architectural leads to align architecture design with responsible cloud resource consumption. Own cloud cost governance and operations and security cost posture.
  • Develop and execute a vision for incorporating enterprise applications and data into a comprehensive date lake architecture that will enable operational efficiency and enterprise analytics.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to continuously enhance security posture, modernize application architecture, reduce technical debt, and adopt industry best practices for technology stacks and development methodologies including best CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery) practices.

  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to toggle between driving strategy and hands on solutioning and design work.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly regulated environment and exposure to HITRUST, SOC 2 etc.
  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing application development AND engineering teams in high growth, regulated healthcare environments.
  • Experience managing a $MM IT budget.
  • Vision and experience for automating software QA.
  • CI/CD implementation experience.
  • Experience with EMR and clinical data interoperability & integration.
  • Understanding of a scaled, agile framework.
  • Cloud application development and Azure experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or related discipline. Master’s Degree is preferred.
