Position Summary

The Vice President of Applications is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Vice President of Applications provides day-to-day leadership for the Compassus Application Portfolio including our EMR, ERP, CRM and other applications. S/he serves as a thought partner to Operations, Growth, Finance, HR, Marketing, Compliance, Legal and other leaders advising to determine the highest-potential tech-enabled opportunities consistent with the overall goals of the company and our IT strategy, architecture and vision. S/he contributes with the Chief Information Officer and other senior leaders to broader enterprise strategic planning efforts - annual cycle and ad-hoc efforts (e.g. board discussion, service line expansion, transaction consideration).

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Leads the team that manages selection, implementation, ownership, operations and support of all applications for Compassus business. This includes IT vendor management, etc.

  • Manages the relationships with Sr. Leaders to understand needs and ensure they are fulfilled per plan.

  • Manages the overall application architecture of the company.

  • Manages the budget, planning, schedules, and performance of the team to execute all aspects of the application portfolio ownership.

  • Leads and supports large-scale projects incorporating a proactive and innovative solution to addressing business challenges and achieving organizational goals and objectives.

  • Conducts market and solution diligence, outlines options, analyzes economics, and structures grounded decisions and prioritization.

  • Acts as a day-to-day driver for rotating portfolio of projects and workstream enhancements, allowing leaders or senior executive team members to act as true Executive Sponsors.

  • Develops a feedback mechanism to facilitate open discussions of organizational improvement opportunities and implement agreed-upon feedback.

  • Provides strategy for operational support of new products and programs.

  • Manages application selection and implementation projects including all phases of the systems selection and implementation process.

  • Provides analysis, design, development, testing, and ongoing support for Workflow systems in an environment of diverse development platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, technology, tools, etc.

  • Defines resource requirements and allocations, monitors and improves quality, and ensures adherence to guardrails and best practice development techniques.

  • Communicates timely and accurate project-related information to relevant parties.

  • Acts as an advocate for change management and encourages innovation and creativity in technology solutions.

  • Leads internal and external meetings with key business stakeholders, end users, and vendors.

  • Analyzes business requirements including data elements needed and process/workflow changes needed to improve business performance.

  • Makes day-to-day decisions concerning ongoing projects.

  • Escalates key decisions regarding specific changes and final selection of systems to the Executive Sponsor.

  • Creates output (e.g., business requirements documentation, project plans and updates, project description/change management tools, etc.) for internal and external audiences.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree required

Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
