Join our growing team and collaborate closely with staff partners and dedicated supporters to amplify the impact and work of The Night Ministry. As Vice President of Advancement you will leads, direct, and manage development and public relations functions of The Night Ministry. Working with the President and Board of Directors, the Vice President of Advancement will be responsible for building a fundraising department that will sustain and grow the organization's $10M annual operating budget from a network of national and local funders. Reporting to the President & CEO, you'll maximize resources, foster collaboration, and promote continuous learning among staff.

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Vision & Leadership

  • Develop and implement capital and operating fund development plans to include solicitation of individuals, foundations, corporations, denominations, and government sources.

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward major gifts prospects.

  • With President and staff, develop and manage the strategic development and public relations plans for the organization.

  • Serve as a member of the operations (Strategic Leadership) team, co-share responsibility for daily operations of the Organization in the absence of the CEO.

  • Coordinate and supervise all development activities including donor portfolios and moves management; donor acquisition; prospect research; corporate, foundation and government relations and grants; major gifts and lower-level individual contributions; planned giving; volunteer stewardship, congregational giving, and other sources. Continually develop and implement creative programs for giving to The Night Ministry.

  • Direct and oversee The Night Ministry's marketing and communications strategy to enhance public understanding and awareness of the organization's mission, vision, goals, and services. Oversee press relations and ensure that news releases, feature articles, and media interviews are taking place.

  • Plan and direct a comprehensive donor communications, cultivation, and stewardship strategy to key audience segments in print and digital channels.

  • Prepare and manage the development and public relations budget; annually evaluate the effectiveness of these programs, including budget analysis.

  • Facilitate education and communication within the organization (including Board and staff) regarding development and public relations activities and needs.

  • Oversee the planning and implementation of major fundraising special events, and other cultivation and stewardship events.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the Advancement Department.

  • Promote a culture of inclusivity, high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

  • Ensure that administrative functions are sufficiently organized and staffed to meet the growing needs of the Organization.

  • Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.

  • Establish and monitor staff performance for direct reports; Including professional development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.

  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.

  • Work with other members of the Strategic Leadership Team to establish organizational policies for human resources and staff performance.

Relationships Management & Gift Solicitation

  • Train, manage and motivate the Board of Directors, empowering them to serve as the primary fundraising arm of the organization, working especially closely with the board committees.

  • Meet annually with each member of the Board of Directors to support them in creating and implementing personal action plans towards fulfillment of their fundraising responsibilities.

  • Act as staff liaison to the Philanthropic Engagement Committee, collaborating with the Database Coordinator to design impactful board and committee reports.

  • Oversee and direct the financial administration of contributed income including maintaining systems, databases, software, and donor/prospect records, as well as providing timely and thorough reports to the President and Board. Ensure accurate, timely donor reports.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Board members, donors, prospects, the philanthropic community, and other relevant constituency groups.

  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations.

  • Serve as an articulate, enthusiastic, and visible spokesperson for The Night Ministry.

Qualifications:

  • The VP of Advancement must fully align with TNM's strategy and mission, showcasing leadership, coaching, and donor management skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field; Master's in business or non-Profit Management Preferred.

  • Dynamic, professional leader with minimum 10 years of fundraising experience, including 5 years in leadership roles with the ability to motivate and inspire volunteers, as well as mentor and direct staff.

  • Reputation for creating a culture of philanthropy based on listening and understanding what is important to donors and volunteers.

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, interpersonal and relationship-building prowess, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creative ability to identify and develop opportunities for donors to engage in The Night Ministry's programs.

Compensation Range: $147,000-155,000

Physical Demands: The physical requirements outlined here reflect those necessary for the role's essential functions. This may include occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, and stooping. Frequent tasks may involve using hands, handling objects, tools, or controls. Regularly, the employee will talk or listen.

Benefits: Full-time staff are entitled to full benefits after 30 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and more.

Work Environment: The Night Ministry does offer flexible remote work on a case-by-case basis. Up to 1 to 2 days of remote work can be scheduled per with your direct supervisor. You would be expected to work general office hours between 9am to 5pm.
