The Vice President is responsible for executing on the Novant Health UVA Medical Group operating plan. Will provide direct operational oversight of the NH UVA HS Physician Network including leadership for physician services in NH UVA Health System Medical Group, Regional Primary Care North Support Services Agreement or other relationships, as needed. Support oversight and lead day to day operations and where appropriate, drive strategic development and direction. Responsible for medical group quality, financials, human experience, and engagement. Execute on medical group initiatives and partner with service lines around strategy and growth.

Executive oversight for quality and population health, including MSSP, Cigna CAC and other value based programs. Strengthen and improve medical group outcomes as well as collaborate with aligned independent practices in value based care performance.

Interface with Virginia's managed care payors to test and implement new payment models, cultivate payor relationships, while connecting back to NH system managed care for contracting.

Be able to blend multiple cultures, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and manage complex projects and strategic relationships. Understand and implement Novant Health system support as well as UVA support. Will lead negotiations and implementation of NH UVA Health System physician/clinical contracts. Identify and utilize resources and benefits from UVA. Specific duties include,

  • Operational management responsible for creating, developing and maintaining effective and efficient operational processes and alignment with the system business objectives

  • Creating an environment focused on continuous improvement

  • Coaches leadership on engagement, performance management and organizational feedback, training and professional development, employee retention and culture building

  • Partner with organizational leaders to manage the operations to include oversight of all clinical, financial, growth, risk & compliance initiatives in an outpatient setting

  • Grow and develop the ambulatory physician network in partnership with Novant Health and UVA Health Systems

  • Population health and accountable care

  • Clinic support services and urgent care

  • Other projects as assigned to bring alignment, create a system, cohesion and value to NH UVA Health System.


  • Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree required.

  • Experience: Six to eight years progressive supervisory/management experience in operations preferably in healthcare setting.

  • Additional skills required: Must possess strong business acumen and have experience contributing as a peer to others on a leadership team. Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skills. Well-developed planning, marketing, organizational development, and business skills. The ability to work with physicians, clinicians, staff and professionals in multiple settings and locations and to promote diversity in the workplace.
