Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

(May include all or the majority but not limited to these components): Sets strategy for rate adequacy, product and pricing within assigned large zone/region /segment to maximize profit. Participates in the BU's strategic business planning activities to ensure the underwriting philosophy and practices for zone/region/segment are consistent with business unit goals.

Identifies trends and emerging issues. Closely monitors underwriting results for the larger region/zone/segment and partners with field management to take action as needed. Drives larger zone/region/segment national underwriting strategy based on sound analysis of financial trends, territorial needs and marketplace dynamics. Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, works closely with Chief Underwriting Officer and senior leaders to develop underwriting strategy for multiple segments, a large segment, and/or multiple regions. Has high level of responsibility for the management of the underwriting process with assigned geographic region or segment.

Drives and communicates sound underwriting strategies and underwriting standards through the organization. Ensures that underwriting results enhance overall profitability, growth and retention of business. This job typically acts as a direct manager.

Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of Underwriting and Product experience.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
12+ years of underwriting experience preferred. CPCU designation preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
10 years of underwriting experience required.

Qualifications * A Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related subject is required. * Five or more years related business experience in skilled, assisted living, or retirement living facility/community management. Successful history of building sales and meeting financial goals. * Three or more years' experience in operations management with demonstrated success in meeting financial goals specific to retirement living, assisted living, long term care or related fields such as hospitality. * Multi-site business operations experience. * Documented success in exceeding business financial goals. * Excellent reputation in management and leadership. * Will be required to travel extensively on behalf of Company. * Position requires driving responsibilities (may use Company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle). * Must possess valid driver's license. * Must satisfactorily meet and be in compliance with Atria motor vehicle policy standards. * Able to influence the actions and opinions of others in a desired direction. Exhibits judgment in leading others to meet worthwhile objectives. * Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of the issues.
