POSITION OVERVIEW

NBME seeks a Vice President, Infrastructure Services that is accountable for delivering adaptable, "always on" foundational backend and robust end user facing, cloud based, and on-premise IT services. Reporting directly to the CIO, this senior member of IT leadership must deliver high-quality, cost-effective services, ensuring a highly secure computing environment, implementing technology solutions and roadmaps, utilizing service management expertise and metrics to drive cost reduction and continuous improvement. As the VP, Infrastructure Services you'd have full accountability for all aspects of NBME's IT Infrastructure including data centers, the data network, storage & servers, the desktop, middleware & databases, collaboration solutions, meeting room technology, telephony, and the IT Service Desk. Additionally, you'd be responsible for driving business outcomes, service improvements, and delivering capabilities that enable the business and reduces the cycle time.

Responsible for a team of approximately 45 regular employees, in addition to interns and consultants, as VP, Infrastructure Services you'd provide leadership and mentoring within Infrastructure and across IT to continually meet the changing needs of the business. You must work effectively across the NBME organization, especially with peers such as the leaders of Application Development, Information Security, and Enterprise Architecture.

This position is remote with the flexibility to work hybrid or onsite if you prefer. You will be expected onsite once a month to come together with the IT Management team and once a quarter will need to come in two additional (back-to-back) days for IT-wide and org-wide activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops strategic plans, infrastructure technology roadmaps, and goals for solutions and services.

  • Provides an adaptable cloud and on prem Infrastructure that can respond quickly to significant changes in business requirements.

  • Advises the CIO and Executive Team on how IT Infrastructure impacts the business. Develops external relationships, attends industry conferences, reads relevant literature to identify emerging technology trends and opportunities.

  • Defines and operates service models to deliver the required services, including sourcing strategies, cloud sourced services, and staffing levels to meet business requirements. Provides contract oversight and vendor management for critical technology services and vendors.

  • Drives continuous improvement and risk mitigation strategies across IT to deliver improved service levels, reduced cost, reduced risk, and increased responsiveness.

  • Selects and implements technology infrastructure standards and standard processes and methodologies that create an efficient and scalable infrastructure.

  • Provides integrated end user services and solutions that increase NBME staff productivity and improve the organization's ability to collaborate internally and with external partners in a remote first environment utilizing a wide range of technologies including desktop, telephony, video/audio conferencing, chat, and collaborative tools.

  • Reduced the organization's risk level by continually improving solutions, processes, and procedures to monitor and assure continuing compliance, threat assessment, and proactive management of security concerns.

  • Recruits / cultivates a deep bench of successor caliber IT leadership and technical talent to deliver results and enable future growth. Provides candid feedback and high impact coaching to leaders and staff.

  • Optimizes internal IT development and support processes and tools including the implementation of DevSecOps practices in line with NBME standards and leading practices.

  • Develops and manages the budget (capital and operations) in Infrastructure. Drives simplification and elimination of technical debt to ensure maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

  • Proposes, develops, and enhances novel technology related solutions that enable the business to be more effective. Coordinates the research and piloting of new technologies applicable to organizational initiatives and plans implementation strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience and skill with Service Management frameworks such as ITIL as well as operations management including Service Desk management, incident management, and data center management.

  • Strategic thinker skilled in long-term planning of roadmaps, programs, portfolios, and projects.

  • Skilled in operating model design and optimization.

  • A strong and wide-ranging understanding of many different communications, collaboration, server, network, and cloud technologies.

  • Skilled managing ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and Atlassian JIRA.

  • Skilled at multi-million-dollar budget, vendor, and contract management.

  • Skilled in managing staff that follow Agile Scrum and DevSecOps practices.

Experience

  • 10 or more years of progressive experience.

  • Certifications not required but desirable such as ITIL.

Education

Bachelor's degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience
