GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Human Resources (VPHR) is responsible for providing human resources (HR) support and oversight to the Airgas LLC and support functions by delivering effective workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, employee engagement and retention, learning & development, and talent management & succession planning, with and through the human resources function. The VPHR will provide input and guidance to the development and implementation of local Human Resources policies and programs, if necessary or required by State Law and in coordination with Corporate ER&C. The VPHR will manage the human resources team who provide human resources guidance, service, and business partner support for the businesses, while also providing talent management, talent acquisition, and learning & development guidance in a matrix structure, to support business and company needs. The VPHR provides guidance and advises senior management on Human Resource opportunities and challenges, as well as solutions to improve organizational effectiveness across the division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners closely with the business partners and SVPHR of Airgas Inc. to develop and execute the human resource strategy in support of the Company culture and business objectives to ensure future growth

  • Lead the HR team and function to support the businesses

  • Supports the LLC and support function leaders with an emphasis on workforce planning, selection, retention, engagement and succession planning.

  • Provides leadership to maintain and enhance effective and compliant labor and employee relations practices necessary to allow Airgas to recruit and retain the best diverse talent, promote a high level of employee morale and minimize risk to the organization.

  • Acts as culture change manager, assessing and providing opportunities for improvement including rewards, leadership, policy, and other systemic levers that drive organizational effectiveness.

  • Implements and ensures compliance with Airgas Inc. Human Resource policies, practices, and legal requirements. Minimizes risk to the company by ensuring consistent execution of such through senior leaders and line management in the company.

  • Ensures compliance with training and development goals and objectives as set forth by the learning & development strategy and needs of the business.

  • Ensures compliance with compensation strategies and structure with alignment to corporate guidelines.

  • Serve as a senior advisor on human resources matters for the business leaders.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with the business, the human resources leaders and the HR functional partners.

  • Ensures business compliance with state and local regulatory requirements.

  • Provides input into and executes Company strategies around recruitment and staffing, labor and employee relations, safety compliance, benefits, and compensation.

  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships across, up and down the organization

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. Masters in related field preferred

REQUIRED LENGTH & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of twelve to fifteen years of HR management experience in positions of increasing responsibility required

  • Should have a strong technical background and experience related to human resources including:

  • Knowledge and understanding of state and local regulatory requirements

  • Broad generalist background including labor and employee relations

  • Experience in talent acquisition and workforce planning

  • Change management and culture system awareness

  • Benefits and compensation

  • Talent Management and succession planning

  • Working knowledge of safety compliance

  • Strong operational HR experience with proven results that will enable continuous improvement of processes to maximize the Operating Company's performance

KNOWLEGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must demonstrate the influencing skills required to navigate and be successful in a matrixed organization and be able to position and build buy-in while juggling differing perspectives and demands

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and execute HR administrative needs in a consistent and timely manner

  • Strong communication skills, ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

  • Moderate to frequent travel required (approximately 35%)

  • Strong computer skills (Google, HRIS, various digital platforms) and experience
