Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs will serve as the senior development officer for OCCC. The Vice President will develop, administer, evaluate, and continuously improve initiatives, processes, programs, and strategies to grow a culture of philanthropy at OCCC and to generate funding that supports the immediate and long-term fundraising goals. In leading the OCCC Foundation, the Vice President will serve as its Executive Director and will work closely with the Foundation Trustees. The Vice President will also supervise the Office of Development staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individuals, corporations, public and private foundations, alumni, community leaders, state of Oklahoma officials, and other internal and external stakeholders.
The Vice President will provide leadership for cultivating and developing impactful relationships with OCCC Foundation Trustees, OCCC's Board of Regents, employees, students, alumni, community members, external constituencies, and others; while remaining keenly focused on developing significant relationships with major gift donors.
The Vice President will oversee Career Services and Marketing and Communications; and ensure that all communication and messaging convey the values, principles, and aspirations of OCCC and support the OCCC's fundraising and advancement goals.
The Vice President serves as a member of the President's Executive Leadership Team.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree
Minimum (10) years' of experience with increasingly responsible leadership and fundraising (including significant experience in donor solicitation, and familiarity with fundraising practices).
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The successful candidate will display a record of leadership and accomplishment in advancement with a proven track record of fundraising success, especially with campaign planning/execution and in major gift solicitations. Strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership capabilities are required. The successful candidate will document the successful solicitation of numerous major and principal gifts and present a history of building advancement programs and fundraising performance.
Knowledge and skill in overseeing communication functions, preferably in a higher education environment.
Ability to travel to perform job duties.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's, Ed.D, Ph.D. or other terminal degree
(10+) years' experience in major and/or gift fundraising at an institution of higher education
Professional Fundraising Certification. i.e. CFRE.
Experience in Career Services and Communications at an institution for higher education.
Required Training
Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution
Work Hours
Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 5:00pm, with evenings and weekends as necessary.

Administers the legal responsibilities and best practices of nonprofit organizations; ensures proper policies and procedures are followed to ensure the highest financial integrity and the highest level of integrity; and complies with generally accepted fundraising and development standards and guidelines.
Builds Annual Development Plan working with the President and key stakeholders; ensures donor records are maintained in the donor management software, executes fundraising priorities as directed by the President; and works with the Office of the President to develop resources for College priorities.
Researches, plans, and evaluates activities related to the analysis of potential funding sources, development of strategies and methods related to all fundraising programs, and continuous improvement of advancement operations including short- and long-range strategic planning for advancement and communications.
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs serves as the Executive Director of the OCCC foundation, overseeing daily operations involving fiduciary management of income and expenses, and maintaining all legal requirements of retaining status as 501(3); and manages the activities and engagement of members of the Board of Trustees.
Supervises gift processing, donor acknowledgment, and donor stewardship; manages a portfolio of donors; sets goals, creates strategic plans, and develops scorecard metrics for organization and team members; works collaboratively with external and internal resources and in support of the Trustees, volunteers, and other advancement staff.
Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle; initiates contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors; develops appropriate cultivation strategies for them; moves potential donors appropriately toward solicitation and closure; makes solicitations when appropriate; maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adheres to the highest ethical standards; and demonstrates empathetic disposition and perseverance.
Supervises advancement staff who conduct administrative and financial functions of the Foundation; and oversees staff's duties and responsibilities.
Participates in public speaking opportunities in and out of state; assists in key ancillary projects/programs that open doors and build relationships.
Provides oversight of the comprehensive scholarship award system and processes.
Oversees the management of the Alumni Association.
Supervises the Marketing and Communications staff and ensures strategic excellence in the writing, review, editing, and production of online and printed promotional content, literature, fundraising appeals, letters, acknowledgments, and other forms of communication; overseeing the flow of information going out to the general public, news media, state and federal governmental entities, and other organizations. Additionally, ensure that the team monitors media and community communications channels ensuring smooth and transparent communication.
Supervises and provides leadership and guidance to the Executive Director of Career Services.
Plans Foundation Board of Trustees meetings, and ensures the preparation and proper maintenance of all necessary support materials and official records.
Maintain relationships with chambers, service organizations, city, county, and state officials. Represents the OCCC foundation to other foundations, philanthropic support organizations, and grantees.
Networks within the community and participates in partnership/collaborative opportunities with other grant-makers and nonprofit organizations, as appropriate.
Travel throughout the state and some out-of-state travel, as needed.
Represent the college as a member of organizations as appropriate and attend off-campus events, which may involve evenings and/or weekends.
Performs other duties as assigned by the President.
