The Vice President of Finance will support the Legal Professionals Small Law Firm, FindLaw and Mid Law Firm sub-segments, driving profitable growth by providing strategic decision support. The Vice President will be a core member of the Finance, Small Firm Law Firm, FindLaw and Medium Law Firm leadership teams. This leader will need to be highly collaborative and skilled in working across teams to drive results and will be serve as finance lead on various initiatives.

This role must partner, develop and nurture key relationships across:

  • Members of Legal Professional Finance leadership team

  • General Managers

  • Sales leadership

  • Commercial Excellence

  • Digital Marketing

  • Decision Support & Insights finance team

  • Product Management

About the Role

In this opportunity as VP Finance, Legal Professionals, you will:

  • Provide strategic decision support including go-to-market design and incentive plan alignment, large deal & partnership negotiation support, pricing and packaging analysis, and operational initiatives to deliver against financial targets

  • Responsible for analyzing and developing financial performance narrative combining revenue, expense and actuals/ planning/ forecasting results

  • Helps operationalize and measure progress against overall strategy and execution against business plans

  • Prepare deliverables and presentation materials related to Strategic plan, Annual Plan, Quarterly Business Reviews, townhalls, commercial meetings etc.)

  • Member of Small Law Firm, FindLaw and Mid Law Firm leadership teams, responsible for not only providing financial leadership and direction, but also key voice in developing and executing against long term growth strategy

  • Finance leader for customer success transformation, digital strategy in small/mid law, Legal Go-To-Market Operations and Legal Partnership initiatives

  • Strong partnership with other Legal Professional Finance Team members, supporting segment-wide special projects and initiatives including acquisition evaluation and due diligence

  • Strong communication skills needed in highly collaborative environment. Must be able to influence direction and results across teams, including partners in Sales, Commercial Excellence, Customer Proposition, Product, O&T and Customer Success

  • Partner with key finance stakeholders to support the Finance Change Program

About You

You will have demonstrated success in leading finance and delivering profitable growth. You will be highly collaborative while driving for results. You will possess a broad business view and the ability to think through market dynamics, external and internal customer needs, and the overall business strategy. You will be a proven change-agent and will demonstrate a track record of success around leveraging technology solutions and partnering effectively with stakeholders to innovate and drive business outcomes. You're a fit for the role of VP Finance, Legal Professionals if your background includes:

  • Deep understanding of revenue and growth drivers, full ownership of P&L and balance sheet dynamics

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business or economics (MBA preferred) or equivalent

  • 10+ years of related experience, including supporting sales leadership with diverse channels (inside, field, digital, etc.) familiarity with forecasting, planning and data visualization tools

  • Demonstrated success navigating complex organizations and ability to be persuasive with a wide range of diverse audiences

  • Strong leadership qualities including effective executive presence / verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience in being an agent for change

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following metro locations: Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $192,500 - $357,500. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
