The Vice President of Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations will lead teams responsible for infrastructure management, network and voice services, enterprise operations, data center management, and technology architecture. This role works closely with the CIO and peer IT leaders, including enterprise architecture, information security and application development, to design and execute on the company's technology roadmap. The VP is a forward-looking technology leader who can develop an infrastructure and operations strategy and drive through to execution and support. Additionally, this position will be responsible for aligning strategic direction and services in support of our international locations.

As a member of the IT senior leadership team, and reporting to the CIO, the VP is an influential role, making investment and priority trade-off decisions, negotiating and managing vendor contracts, and recruiting, retaining, and developing high performing teams. The VP will provide vision and leadership to a team that includes over 230 full-time employees.


  • Accountable for a high-performing computing infrastructure company wide. This includes, but is not limited to, enterprise operations, data center management, systems and database administration, disaster recovery, network operations, telecom, and cloud services.

  • Collaborate with the CIO and CTO to develop strategic and tactical solution plans for Cox Automotive's future technology infrastructure.

  • Partner with the IT Leadership Team to build and modernize the organizational structure and business processes to support our growth in the rapidly changing automotive industry.

  • Manage the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies including cloud, software defined networking, high performance computing, continuous delivery and the latest collaboration technologies.

  • Ensure cost-effective design, development, integration, implementation, testing, and maintenance of new services, equipment and systems in support of business objectives and requirements.

  • Develop and lead a high performing infrastructure engineering and operations team to ensure the reliable delivery of IT services and operations.

  • Build strong links between development and operations to create multidisciplinary teams that work well together.

  • Drive a collaborative culture that values technical depth, accountability, and customer service.

  • Establish, maintain and execute operations procedures that leverage efficiencies and best practices.

  • Oversee service management activities including incident, problem and change management.

  • Oversee the direction of infrastructure investments in collaboration with team members, the CIO, and partners.

  • Oversee cybersecurity protections on all IT infrastructure resources according to policies and standards established by the information security team and the CISO.

  • Drive the delivery of major technology and infrastructure projects and service management improvements, ensuring that quality, productivity, and ROI goals are achieved.

  • Implement and maintain controls and monitoring procedures to ensure availability of critical systems, and minimal service interruptions.


  • Establish the short and long-term goals for Enterprise IT Operations.

  • Develop and control the annual operating and capital budgets for IT Operations.

  • Develop and manage executive stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.

  • Partner with IT and Business leaders to evaluate standard operating procedures with an eye towards replacing manual, inefficient workflows with tech enabled solutions that can be delivered through the organization consistently.

  • Produce cost-effective and innovative solutions to continuously improve our IT cost per revenue metrics for the business.

  • Active participation in Merger and Acquisition assessment and integration activities.


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience in large, cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organization design and development with preferred experience in leading transformational initiatives.

  • Substantial experience leading, directing and controlling a complex, highly technical operation or organization.

  • Experience migrating IT infrastructure into a cloud environment.

  • Experience achieving and maintaining compliance in regulated environments (e.g. PCI).

  • Deep knowledge of: cloud computing and cloud operations, infrastructure and technology-based security practices, application and infrastructure monitoring, business continuity, disaster recovery, high-availability, scalability, and continuous integration/delivery.

  • Ability to instill confidence in the business and demonstrate the business value of IT.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies and the ability to apply those technologies to business needs.

  • Strong vendor management and partner relation skills.

  • Ability to drive organizational change and build infrastructure capabilities that effectively optimize operational efficiency and deliver innovative and agile solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders and teams.
