POSITION TITLE: VP, Development - Multifamily Housing

COMPENSATION:Pursuant to Colorado regulations, if this job is performed in Colorado, the salary range is $150,000 - $200,000 plus bonus potential. Eligible to participate in the company benefits plan. We offer health, vision, dental, and pet insurance. REPORTS TO: SVP, Head of Development

SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Multifamily Housing Development will be responsible for sourcing, underwriting and executing on Multi-Family and Student Housing development opportunities nationwide. The VP Development will play an integral role in defining target markets, pursuit strategy and building strong processes for managing a large pipeline of active deals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):

  • Lead and perform financial analyses including preliminary due diligence of all new pursuits

  • Manage the development process and project consultants, provide accurate reporting, and implement and execute processes to ensure pro-forma development budgets, underwriting, schedules, design quality, and standards are achieved.

  • Present at Investment Committee meetings for proposed development projects by preparing relevant IC materials and supporting documentation

  • Independently source new ground up development opportunities through relationships with brokers, consultants, land sellers, lenders, etc. to identify feasible, financeable, and profitable new developments

  • Lead the negotiation of legal documents including contracts, easements, municipal agreements, other project documentation, etc.

  • Manage third-party consultants to identify, entitle, design, finance and permit new deals

  • Lead a Deal Team consisting of a Development Manager and Analyst, with particular focus on career growth and development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience (7-10 years) in all phases of multi-family and/or student housing development including sourcing, underwriting, project management and entitlement

  • Ability to grow and manage a team of development managers and analysts

  • Strong research skills and ability to identify and compile information to support the investment thesis and clearly articulate to Investment Committee

  • Demonstrated high proficiency in complex Microsoft Excel modeling

  • MBA or Masters in Real Estate preferred

Routine local travel is required to attend training classes, client visits, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position. Overnight travel required to attend company functions, training, property visits, and other situations necessary for the accomplishment of special projects that may be assigned from time to time.
