Overview

Suffolk is seeking a strong, innovative communications professional for a newly created role of VP, Internal Communications. This position will oversee Internal Communications/Employee Engagement and provide strategic input on external communications for our organization. You will be responsible for developing and delivering strategic communications plans that drive culture change and increase employee awareness and understanding of our business and strategic objectives. You will partner closely with all critical stakeholders to ensure a free flow of information and ideas between businesses and with key internal partners, including senior leaders and the company Executive Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop an internal communications vision and strategy that will inform, engage and inspire the Suffolk employee base

  • Evaluate and refine the current communications practices; define optimal channel mix for communications (digital, paper, visual, audio and social media)

  • Deliver high-quality, inspiring and well thought through communications

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, defining their communication requirements and providing advice, expertise and guidance

  • Proactively look for opportunities to support the business and bring the corporate strategy to life

  • Partner with senior executives to address change management communications and/or issues communications

  • Establish key metrics and feedback mechanisms to measure the impact and effectiveness of communications

  • Work with the marketing & brand and public relations teams to ensure that internal and external outreach activities are synchronized and mutually beneficial

  • Oversee the Internal Communications Manager

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 15 years of experience leading communications initiatives in a fast paced and dynamic environment

  • Bachelor's degree minimum

  • Experience leading company-wide communication initiatives with the ability to translate strategy into action

  • Comfort dealing directly with senior Executives in all areas of business on a daily basis

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with diverse leaders, teams and styles

  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing small teams

  • Clear, concise and engaging verbal and written communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail in all work product

  • Positive attitude, motivated self-starter and action-oriented with a healthy sense of fun

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
