Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, calm-under-pressure Client Communications leader who can guide communication strategy with operational efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that effectively engage our growing financial professional audience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-centric communications that align with our corporate priorities. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, exceptional writer, and adept project manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting to the SVP, Corporate Communications, the VP, Client Communications will lead and work as a team to support LPL's growth, brand, and reputation. This leader will be responsible for proactive client communications efforts, identifying opportunities for storytelling and action while mitigating potential reputational risks.

The VP of Client Communications is responsible for developing communications plans in support of the firm's objectives and key results, leading client communication campaigns, including change management, crisis communications, thought leadership positioning and executive visibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Define LPL's client communications strategy in support of Corporate Priorities.

  • Lead and manage a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Advance client communication team impact by identifying process and operational efficiencies in the communication approach.

  • Create and execute client communications strategies and supporting activities, including change management, crisis, operational, regulatory and required communications, thought leadership, and measurement.

  • Lead critical communications and crisis communications, demonstrating the ability to effectively manage and navigate challenging situations, including serving as crisis communications lead in the event of reputational and business continuity events.

  • Partner with LPL's enterprise resiliency and technology teams to ensure the delivery of critical communications to clients while mitigating reputational impact.

  • Oversee the production and distribution of communication materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.

  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives, using data and analytics to drive continuous improvement.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in client communications, incorporating innovative approaches into strategies and tactics.

  • Regularly collaborate with business stakeholders and subject-matter expert partners (Investor Relations, Corporate Development, Marketing, etc.) to ensure messaging alignment and coordination of communications activities.

  • Prepare client-facing teams to respond to clients with accurate and timely information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent field.

  • 15+ years of communications experience.

  • Financial services/wealth management acumen is required. Public company experience a plus.

  • Have a proven track record in crisis communications, with the ability to lead and manage critical communications during challenging situations. Skilled in developing and implementing crisis communication strategies that effectively address reputational and business continuity events.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies that drive engagement and deliver tangible results.

Preferences:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for different channels and audiences.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, creative problem-solving skills, and discretion with sensitive or confidential information.

  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment while anticipating future needs.

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a calm and composed demeanor under pressure.

  • Experienced self-starter who can manage projects independently, a good sense of prioritization, and calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong partnership skills with a track record of leading through both influence and authority.

Pay Range:

$119,280-$178,920/year

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
