Ryan Specialty is looking for a Vice President, Chief Pricing Actuary
Position Summary:
This role would be involved in all aspects of leading pricing actuarial support for Ryan Specialty. It is expected that this role will provide support for a number of business units as required. This is a highly visible position in an area of strategic importance for Ryan Specialty.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders throughout Ryan Specialty including internal and external stakeholders
Leading projects and initiatives
Managing and directing the activities of the pricing actuarial team
Recruitment, development, and training of the pricing actuarial team, as needed.
Ongoing responsibility for the projects listed below in addition to other projects that will be assigned to help meet business objectives
Strategic analyses and business partnership to help business unites achieve target loss ratios, including underwriting improvement plans.
Product development - industry, peer, and market analyses to support new initiatives
Produce and communicate regular portfolio management analytics across business units
Pricing and Rating tool development for new programs
maintenance of pricing and rating tools for existing programs
Develop portfolio tools for identifying and monitoring aggregation of coverage for certain classes or specific exposures
Will play a key role in driving strategy around the use of technology and the collection and organization of enterprise data
Will work to develop tools for presentation of results to business units and Ryan Specialty management
Liaise with carrier partners on matters of program and portfolio underwriting performance
Other relevant duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, statistics, economics or related field
15+ years of experience
Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society preferred, will consider ACAS
Excellent technical aptitude, including:
Actuarial skills - pricing, product development, reserving, stochastic models, experience with catastrophe modeling / predictive analytics considered a plus
Technology skills
Breadth of experience across commercial lines products and lines of businesses, across property and casualty
Strong understanding of the insurance business (including insurance accounting)
Outstanding interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
Leadership ability
Committed team player, client-focused, leadership qualities, highly-motivated
Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to solve problems by asking questions and exploring solutions
Willingness to get involved at all levels / all aspects of the process as necessary
Ability to manage workload without supervision.
May be required to have and maintain a valid driver's license.
