The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Vice President and COO will be responsible for the strategic oversight and provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the business has the proper organizational structure, process flows, quality controls, people training, reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively manage the organization for growth, quality and patient-centered care, while also ensuring financial strength and operating efficiency. Drawing on their operational expertise and clinical experience, this position will collaborate regularly with our internal and external partners to ensure that the therapies supported are easy to access and delivered to patients quickly so they can resume their path to better health. This role will lead a team of nearly 300 employees, organized within the following teams:

  • Specialty Pharmacy Operations: Intake, Benefits, Patient Assistance, Claims, Pharmacist verification and counseling, fulfillment, shipping, nurse case management and customer services

  • Patient Support / Hub Operations: Reimbursement specialists, call center, quality.

  • Training: Instructional design, technical course development, technical training, orientation, leadership development

  • Quality: Quality measurement and improvement, change control, accreditations, audit, MasterControl (SOP database) maintenance, issue identification and corrective action planning

Lastly, being an inspirational leader who can build and manage a high performing team is a critical skill set for this role - they will need to establish and develop a team of leaders that is aligned to the company's mission of supporting patients with complex condition and committed to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team leadership of nearly 300 employees across Specialty Pharmacy Operations, Patient Support Services, Training and Quality teams. Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the senior operations team; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.

  • Relentless in continuous improvement methodologies and practices that improve the efficiency and harmonization of all pharmacy and hub operations.

  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the business segment.

  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.

  • Support business development and sales teams to drive the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives through Operational Excellence.

  • Assist, as required, from acquisition due diligence through complete organization integration meeting and exceeding all operational goals.

  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

  • Represent the segment with internal and external clients, and colleagues from across the McKesson Enterprise.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

10+ years of healthcare business experience in a related field; 5 years of demonstrated track record of success leading operations for a high-volume, specialty pharmacy.

Critical Skills

  • Strong manger/ team leadership, managing direct reports.

  • Strong executive presence, fluent in C-Suite level discussions within large healthcare organizations

  • Experience in problem solving in relationship management.

  • Results driven.

  • Financial and pharmacy business acumen

  • Six Sigma or process improvement experience a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. MBA/ MHA/ Clinical degree strongly preferred.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$168,500 - $280,900
