General Summary

Leads the development and delivery of technology strategy and architecture to enable the VSP Global Enterprise to meet its business goals. Establishes the blueprint for the enterprise data and technology platform to enable all business stakeholders. The CGO is a technologist and visionary with practical technology experience.

Essential Functions

Ensure that business and technology are in alignment by linking the business mission, strategy and processes of VSP Global align to an enterprise technology strategy

Develop and implement technical and business plans for computer systems, hardware, software and processes that meet the enterprise-wide business needs for the VSP Global

Work with the leadership from, LOB CIOs, and GTS enterprise groups to support their Information Technology needs through the delivery of enterprise-wide technology solutions

Maintain agreed upon system availability standards for all critical enterprise systems of VSP Global

Facilitate security standards for delivered VSP Global applications

Ensure critical systems for VSP Global are adequately covered by a Disaster Recovery Plan

Drive or support projects to further the business objectives prioritized by the Project Steering Committee (PSC)

As a member of the PSC, establish corporate project priorities for significant cross divisional and cross company projects

Partner with the LOB CIOs to provide overall governance for enterprise projects such as SAP Financials and CRM

Purchase hardware, software and professional services for VSP Global

Manages the attraction, retention and development of a high-performance workforce

Develops and monitors succession planning process for top leadership positions

Develops top leadership through selection, coaching and reinforcement

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelors degree in information technology, or business or related field or equivalent experience

Fifteen years experience in information technology management with at least ten years high-level IT experience in several functional areas preferably in a corporate environment

Comprehensive conceptual knowledge of computer technology

Comprehensive knowledge of business systems and processes, especially industry best practices. Knowledge of VSP systems and process preferred

Strong, demonstrated skills in implementing technology to achieve business objectives

Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.

RBs are also trained in cash transactions and may be asked to process these transactions both accurately and efficiently when needed.
