JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Purpose of the Position:

Tallgrass Energy is planning to hire a Head of Sequestration to provide leadership and technical guidance to all aspects of CCUS. This position will manage and provide technical support for the development, engineering, and operation of the Tallgrass's CCS facilities and will work with multi-disciplinary teams, including Developments, Operations, Subsurface, Regulatory, etc. A superior working knowledge of the CCUS regulatory and policy landscape with specific prior experience delivering large-scale development projects, ideally CCUS related, will be pivotal to this role. Experience building and leading teams within the CCUS industry is strongly desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the project development of any CCUS endeavours Tallgrass pursues and thereafter support the operation of the CCUS projects through engagement with the Operations team and provide guidance to facilitate regulatory compliance

  • Serve as the Tallgrass's Subject Matter Expert on Sequestration and maintain ongoing knowledge of applicable regulations, including analysis of proposed regulations and potential impacts to the Tallgrass's sequestration projects.

  • Lead application development and manage permitting obligations associated with the U.S. CO2 sequestration (EPA, etc.), including overseeing third-party consultants performing tasks related to permit acquisition and operations-related reporting.

  • Coordinate and interface with Engineering during the front-end engineering design and detailed engineering processes of CCUS projects

  • Provide technical support to Environmental, Regulatory, and Air permitting teams to assist in acquisition of environmental permits associated with the CCUS projects

  • Develop and maintain the CCUS project plans and procedures per regulatory and Tallgrass requirements and update project documents, as needed

  • Ensure optimal compliance with CCUS projects permits, legislation, and Tallgrass standards

  • Develop and execute Class VI well testing and monitoring plans and supervise submittal of reports and notifications to regulatory agencies, as required.

  • Oversee compliance with CCS facilities permits, legislation, and Company standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience and Professional Qualifications:

Key requirements and attributes include:

  • A minimum of 15 years of applicable knowledge and experience with CO2 sequestration, ideally in development and operations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse and highly specialized project teams.

  • Understand carbon storage and sequestration opportunities across the lower 48

  • Experience across various midstream functions including engineering and construction, and risk management.

  • Well versed in active government agencies and programs pushing CO2 pipelines and storage

  • Strong understanding of CO2 transportation and storage operations, and the regulatory process for permitting Class VI wells

  • A strong internal and external customer orientation with an ability to ensure the highest project performance in terms of budget, quality and schedule on the projects they manage.

  • A team player and builder with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Well-developed organization and communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with all levels associated with any project. This includes being able to present information to senior management, Board of Directors, investors and lenders while being able to relate well to peers and direct reports.

  • Solid understanding of risk management, risk transfer and risk mitigation as well as knowledge of contract terms and conditions.

  • This executive should have a reputation for high integrity and ethics and a collegial style and ability to work well with peers within the organization.

  • Relates well to people, inspires trust, and able to work effectively with colleagues possessing world-class technical and commercial skills.

Compensation: Compensation ranges are provided in good faith based on what we anticipate when researching wages for this position at the state and national levels. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
