What we do:

The VP, Business Development, Retail role is an opportunity to grow a healthy retail category at the forefront of the adtech industry. We are a global company that is building the critical, privacy-focused technologies which will replace third party cookies and build a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet. Our self-serve, transparent software helps advertisers use the best available data to reach audiences on the open internet at every stage of the funnel - from awareness to engagement to conversion.

We see significant opportunity to have retailers join us on the open internet - and we need an inspirational leader to help convince them to do so.

What you'll do:

  • Take North America responsibility for representing The Trade Desk's growing retail category, including ownership of The Trade Desk's most strategic partnerships with retailers - liaising with C-Level stakeholders at both retail brand marketing organization, and their affiliated retail media, data and measurement business units

  • Oversee an existing team of high-performing and experienced sales leaders -ten members currently

  • Attract, develop, and retain talent to build and mentor a diverse team with the capabilities needed to achieve current and future growth objectives

  • Work directly with existing platform solutions clients and consult on the development of GTM strategies for their product offerings built on top of TTD's platform

  • Collaborate with our data partnerships team to create a total solution that will drive data revenue

  • Act as executive sponsor of strategic partnerships

  • Develop a deep technical understanding of The Trade Desk platform, competitive positioning, and an informed view of the value chain within programmatic advertising

  • Partner with high-level executives as part of a small, tight-knit business development team aligned towards growth of the retail business as a whole

  • Create and drive a strategic plan to achieve revenue goals through existing business growth.

  • Work cross-functionally with The Trade Desk's client services, data partnerships, marketing, and product/engineering teams to guide product roadmap prioritization and successful customer integrations

  • Facilitate communication internally and externally related to partnerships (demands, strategies, roadmaps, operational requirements, etc.)

Who you are:

You are an entrepreneur at heart and are intrigued by the opportunity to directly influence the entire landscape of programmatic advertising. Working with this client segment brings you 'behind the curtain' and into C-level conversations that shape major partnerships across the industry. You're equally comfortable selling concepts to client-side and internal executives, get excited about new product offerings, and are a masterful relationship builder.

  • 15+ years experience creating and building differentiated relationships with retailers

  • A wealth of experience in a platform-oriented business development or solution-selling role, ideally within the AdTech or MarTech industries

  • An extensive record of delivery at a programmatic agency, client-side investment team, DSP, SSP, online publisher, ad network, or other online advertising role

  • Working knowledge of the retail media ecosystem and the value chains throughout both shopper marketing and brand-side media investment and activation

A proven track record of:

  • Working on complex partnerships that require alignment of internal and external GTM, product, engineering, legal, finance and leadership teams to achieve revenue goals

  • Strategic and highly analytical approach to selling concepts with a focus on building relationships with internal and external leadership

  • Directly managing a partnerships or sales team

NY, CO, CA, and WA residents only: In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is$194,500-$356,600 USD
