Opportunity

We are looking for a visionary and strategic leader to join our IT team as the VP, Application and Data Engineering. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of innovative and scalable software solutions that support our business goals and customer needs. You will also lead the data engineering team that manages the data pipeline, data warehouse, and data analytics platforms. You will work closely with other senior leaders, business analyst, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment, collaboration, and excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the vision and strategy for the application development and data engineering teams, ensuring alignment with the company's mission, values, and objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, data engineers, and technical managers, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and customer focus.

  • Establish clear goals and objectives for the team, and regularly evaluate performance against key metrics.

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and expertise to deliver strategic initiatives.

  • Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and processes for software development, data engineering, and data governance, ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee the architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software applications and data platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, performance, and usability.

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure applications leveraging Microsoft cloud technologies.

  • Lead the definition and implementation of data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization.

  • Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies that enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the software development and data engineering teams.

  • Manage the budget, resources, and timelines for the application development and data engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Communicate and collaborate with other senior leaders, product managers, engineers, and stakeholders across the organization, building strong relationships and partnerships.

  • Provide thought leadership and expertise on software development and data engineering trends, best practices, and innovations, staying abreast of the latest developments and opportunities in the industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in software development and data engineering, with at least 10 years of leadership and management experience.

  • Proven track record of delivering complex and innovative software solutions and data platforms that meet business and customer needs.

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft cloud technologies, including Azure DevOps, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Dynamics 365.

  • Strong understanding of Snowflake Data Warehouse or similar data warehousing solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of software engineering and data engineering best practices, standards, and processes, such as design patterns, code quality, testing, security, privacy, and data governance.

  • Strong understanding of data strategy principles, data governance frameworks, and data management best practices.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and empower a diverse and distributed team of engineers and managers.

  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically, and to translate vision into actionable plans and results.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
