Our ISO Solutions unit in Jersey City is looking for a Vice President of Actuarial and Analytic Products is responsible for the growth and development of analytic based products, including Risk Analyzer. The role covers technical responsibilities, people management and P&L responsibilities.

Role Description:

  • Product Management - Responsible for growing the revenue for analytic products, both as a part of the overall Core Services offering, and if identified, as additional products. This includes developing strategy, pricing, contract structures, packaging and bundling, and enhancement. Identifies the need for and oversees the development of client materials, user guides, and training documents. Identifies the need for and oversees the development of robust and detailed reports to understand and manage sales, revenue, and customer level results.

  • Actuarial leadership Ensures Personal Lines products are supported for needed actuarial work, including thought leadership and new product development and opportunities.

  • Team management leads the personal lines actuarial team, including staff development, project management, integration with Actuarial Operations and other supporting areas; also leads the analytic products team, responsible for developing analytic products for ISO.

  • Sales Support ensures that sales organization is supported with materials, training, meeting support (SME), proposals, insights, customer conference management, competitive information, etc.

  • Develop expertise in the personal lines insurance industry. This will require ongoing participation in industry events and conferences, competitive research, collaboration with business partners, and engagement with customers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree. Advanced degree or insurance designations (e.g. FCAS, CPCU) desired.

  • 15+ years experience in an underwriting or product management role with insurance company, vendor, or related company.

  • Understanding of the basics of technology and the convergence of software, data, and consulting

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with internal staff and external stakeholders and especially customers.

  • Comfortable leading a discussion with industry executives but can also dive into the details of a challenging quantitative problem to solve customer needs

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical problem-solving and negotiating skills; business creativity is a must

  • Quantitative background with a focus on high quality data and analytics is a plus

  • Strong strategic and business skills. Must be able to assess and address complex business problems to identify opportunities that include Verisk capabilities across the organization

  • Highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, revenue generating environment.

  • Able to work virtually and in a matrix environment; accomplishing work deliverables with people across the organization not in this person's direct area of accountability.

  • Strong familiarity with the P&C markets, Verisk products, and competitor's offerings.

  • Sales & solution minded

  • Experience with gathering and assessing competitive intelligence

  • 25% travel

The lines of business included are homeowners, dwelling property, personal inland marine, personal liability, watercraft, personal property earthquake and personal flood. Position: Senior Actuarial Associate In this role, you will: * Be the product owner for your line of business responsible for all actuarial aspects of the products. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing current actuarial products and rating development for new programs and coverage * Have potential opportunity to work with external customer in a consulting type work environment * Be part of the team that leads the innovation and update of insurance programs in response to the changing business environment * Utilize your line of insurance expertise to analyze market, industry, competitor, legal and regulatory trends and use these to provide actionable insights that drive the business of both the company and its customers * Drive quality results and customer focus into everyday operations To meet these goals, you will collaborate with Product Strategy Leaders to drive increased product enhancement and development, seeking to differentiate, competitively position and adapt your products, and leverage their value to customers. You will work within a Shared Services model, where you will work with Actuarial Operations and Analytic Data Management to coordinate actuarial support for key Insurance Programs and Analytic Services (IPAS) functions, including, the preparation of actuarial reviews and filings and supplementary rating information. or multi-state rules. You will be one of the key ambassadors for your products, you will also assist with research within the Actuarial Products team for product enhancements and new product development, utilizing support from Actuarial Operations, Actuarial Procedures, and Analytic Data Management as appropriate. As product owner, you will be responsible for interacting with regulatory authorities on the filing review and approval process, correspondence and requests for information. You will drive quality results and emphasize customer focus in all aspects of your work. This includes responding to developments, leading panels or other customer forums, representing the product to customers, working with the customer engagement and sales team, and being a key customer resource. You will work to expand the use of ISO products to International markets, and other domestic market segments (e.g. Excess & Surplus Lines), and provide support to ISO's growing customer base. You will be part of a team that also has primary responsibility for regulatory interactions, including, at times, representing IPAS at meetings with state insurance departments and industry groups. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. ACAS/FCAS required. * Minimum 10 years personal property insurance actuarial pricing and product development experience desired. * Strong analytical skills with deep knowledge on actuarial pricing methodologies and proficiency in excel, word, data programming and PowerPoint. Experience with SAS, R or General Linear Modeling will be a plus. * Strong project management skills to take the ownership of the projects to make high quality and timely deliverables. * Strong verbal and written communication skills * 3+ years' experience leading team(s), with strong records of building great internal or external customer relationships that focus on gaining actionable insights and forming collaborative partnerships with the goal of innovation, product improvement, or ease of use. * 3+ years' experience of strategic thought leadership fueled by deep knowledge of market, industry, customer, and competitor trends and resulting in directional insights and innovations that drive progress towards business objectives.
