Alameda Health Partners is recruiting a Vice Chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Alameda Health System (AHS).# In this role, you will be responsible for operationalizing the strategic vision for the Department; providing leadership and decision-making to clinicians and staff within the Department, as well as representing the Department externally; ensuring that the clinical, research, and education aims of the Department are being fulfilled to the utmost rigor; growing the scale, reach, and footprint of the Department; increasing channels for AHS providers to engage in advocacy around women#s health equity; and establishing AHS as a leader in women#s health.# This role will report to the Department Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. #Alameda Health System is a major public health system and medical training institution headquartered in Oakland, CA. The system has more than 4,500 employees and 1,100 physicians and comprises three general acute hospitals, the Acute Rehabilitation Center at Fairmont Hospital, two skilled nursing facilities, an inpatient psychiatric facility, and four community wellness centers.# The Health System is driven by its mission

  • Caring, Teaching, Healing, Serving All. #The heart of its mission is to promote wellness, eliminate disparities, and improve and maintain the health of residents of the diverse communities of Alameda County, regardless of ability to pay. # Job Summary # As the Vice Chair in the Department of Obstetrics # Gynecology at Alameda Health System (AHS), you will have the opportunity to: # Make a significant contribution to a critical service for women and their families in this safety net health system; Lead a motivated, mission-driven group of clinicians and staff; Improve, iterate[DR1]#, and innovate on all our women#s health service lines throughout Alameda Health System; Practice obstetrics and gynecology in a collaborative, supportive setting; Contribute to our broader team of passionate women#s health experts in designating Alameda Health System as a leader in equitable, just, high value reproductive healthcare. # If you are a compassionate Obstetrician/Gynecologist physician leader who is eager to build sustainable, innovative reproductive healthcare services for vulnerable populations, you will be at home in our department. # Job Responsibilities # Help to define the Department#s vision for clinical services; education and training; and research and improvement efforts; Maintain a keen sense of budgetary targets and progress towards those targets; ensure financial solvency and growth opportunities; and identify paths towards profitability; Streamline and manage day-to-day operations as they relate to personnel, staffing, and clinical service coverage; Recruit, hire, and manage the performance of clinicians and staff towards Department goals and contractual agreements with Alameda Health System; Oversee the provision of women#s health service lines to support system-level goals around population health, access, equity, and financial sustainability; Establish and maintain referral relationships with local clinics, practices, and health system partners to expand our footprint in Alameda County and beyond; Apply quality metrics to ensure that the Department is performing at the highest standards of care; Identify opportunities for the Department to drive advocacy efforts around women#s healthcare locally; Support educational programming for medical students from the University of California at San Francisco, resident physicians from Kaiser Oakland#s Obstetrics and Gynecology training program; and fellows from Alameda Health System#s Women#s Reproductive Health Equity fellowship; Initiate and grow research and quality improvement efforts as they relate to the broader strategic vision for the Department; Maintain broad obstetrics and gynecological scope of practice that includes inpatient Labor and Delivery coverage and inpatient gynecological service coverage (ER consults, emergency GYN surgery), with an option for ambulatory practice. This role would also participate in GYN service attending weeks as well as home-based night and emergency backup on par with the physicians in our department.# Although the templated schedule for this role will adhere closely to the hours corresponding to the FTE allotted, as a member and leader within this department, this role may be called upon to contribute to service coverage needs to ensure patient safety, in line with all physicians in the department.# This may mean that weekly hours may at times exceed allotted FTE, and this individual would be compensated for those hours per departmental standards (billed as extra hours) # Qualifications

Education:


Doctor of Medicine#(M.D.) or#Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine#(D.O.) degree is required. Minimum Experience: Completion of approved post-graduate residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from an accredited hospital or medical center. Required Certifications: Board eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology; Board Certification (will be expected to obtain on the appropriate schedule); Compliance with Board mandated education and training to maintain State licensure and/or board certification. Required Licenses: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
