Seeking a Medical Administrative Veterinary Technician!

VCA Shaker Animal Hospital is seeking a Medical Administrative Technician to support our hospital's Medical Director. VCA Shaker is a fast-paced, growing general medicine practice which has been an integral part of the Latham community since 1973. We have become a trusted care provider in upstate NY throughout the years because of our knowledgeable and highly skilled doctors and staff. Our experienced and diverse medical team consists of 4 tenured veterinarians, multiple technicians and assistants, and a client service team. We are committed to providing our patients and clients with the best care possible in the industry.

VCA Shaker is open seven days a week and is fully equipped with 7 exam rooms, a treatment area, surgery suite, grooming and boarding and canine rehabilitation. We provide primary care, surgery, diagnostic ultrasounds, and dental procedures.

We are looking for seasoned professional to embrace this essential role of Medical Administrative Technician. The ideal canidate must be a self-starter with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with a passion for excellent patient care and customer service. Technical prowess, and a solid medical foundation are a must.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and develop communication with clients regarding their pets to provide quality patient care and excellent client service

  • Maintain electronic client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up to date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow up and future management of patients

  • Supervise the administration and case review of client medical complaints

  • Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and general public

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of customer service

  • 4-5 years prior veterinary experience as a CVT or experienced technician or veterinary/medical assistant

  • Fear Free Certification is a plus

  • Comfortable with technology and strong ability to navigate Microsoft Office

  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude

  • Respect for and willingness to work with clients and their pets

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage an environment with changing priorities

The pay range for this position is $18-$25/ hour based on education , licensure and experience.
