The Pet Dental Clinic is looking to add a part-time Veterinary Technician.

Schedule: Staggered schedule Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm on Fridays.

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Our Veterinary Technicians hired for this position will be tasked with animal handling, pre-and post-operative patient care, anesthesia monitoring and understanding, dental radiographs, and professional dental cleaning including ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and use of hand instruments for subgingival scaling and perioceutic application.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Obtain patient history and updates from clients and maintain accurate and complete patient medical records

  • Prepare and maintain waiting room, exam rooms, treatment rooms, and surgical rooms

  • Review patient instructions with clients and distribute educational materials

  • Restrain patient for examination with the veterinarian.

  • Obtain blood samples-cephalic/saphenous/jugular and process/submit lab work both in house and to outside labs

  • Place IV catheters and assist with surgical equipment monitoring (anesthesia, ventilator, fluid pump, etc.)

  • The ability to calculate medication dosages and print emergency instructions

  • Administer medications that the veterinarian has prescribed.

  • Assist in inventory control of medical supplies, report hospital inventory needs to the manager

  • Anesthesia: induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery.

  • Dentistry skills: ultrasonic scaling, hand scaling, curetting, polishing, and general knowledge of the oral cavity, charting, AVDS abbreviations.

  • Radiology skills: full mouth intraoral radiographs, ability to use digital DR and CR systems.

  • Calm, comfort and properly handle animals before, during and after procedures.

  • Clean, brush, remove bandages and walk patients during their visit and before they go home.

  • Clean and sterilize the animal enclosures in order to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and provide a pleasant environment for the clinic's patients.

  • Clean, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and surgical supplies (gowns, towels, etc.) in order to prevent postoperative infections.

  • Have a positive and compassionate attitude with excellent skills in written and verbal communication.

  • Maintain professional and courteous demeanor in challenging/stressful situations

  • Work well independently and as a team member.

  • Be honest, reliable and a strong leader.

  • Provide CSR support when needed with greeting and checking in clients, taking phone calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining client communications.

  • Clerical duties such as filing, copying, and faxing, and checking your work email

Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • 2 years of continuous veterinary technician/assistant experience (direct animal/patient care required)

  • LVT, RVT, CVT is preferred!

  • Pre-and post-operative patient care, anesthesia monitoring and understanding, dental radiographs and professional dental cleaning to include ultrasonic scaling, polishing and use of hand instruments for subgingival scaling

  • Desire to practice empathetic, gold standard medicine benefiting our patients

  • Team oriented with an ability to collaborate and support each other

  • Are paw-sitive, kind and provide trustworthy communication to the patients, team members and clients.

  • Have the desire to constantly grow and advance as a veterinary technician!
