Veterinary Technician - LVT

Lake Placid Animal Hospital is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to our team. This role will be on a rotating weekend schedule (The hospital is open from 8am-Noon on Saturdays) and a rotating schedule for afterhours care of hospitalized patients, and is a full-time role.

Lake Placid Animal Hospital is a small, fast paced 2 DVM practice in the heart of the Adirondacks and proudly serves the Lake Placid, NY, community. We are committed to quality veterinary care and individualized service for our clients. Our clinic offers wonderful services to our clients to ensure that their furry friends are well taken care of. We have a surgical suite, on-site lab, in house pharmacy, and we even offer doggy daycare.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Lake Placid Animal Hospital in Lake Placid, NY

$19.00-$25.00 an hour based on experience and availability

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones

• Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy

• Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas

• Perform physical assessments and record your observations

• Keep furry friends calm and still during procedures (sometimes using chin scratches!)

• Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients

• Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions

• Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered

• Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures (be comfortable with blood draws; prepare patients for surgery; administer anesthesia; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administer fluids)

• Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) required for this role

• Availability for rotating evening and weekend shifts

• Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
