Veterinary Medical Director

Piper Health & Sciences is seeking a Veterinary Medical Director to join a leading veterinary care clinic in the Bradenton, FL area. The Veterinary Director will have operational and developmental oversight of a brand-new clinic and staff members.

Responsibilities for the Veterinary Medical Director include:

• Develop and implement medical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidelines for the care of shelter animals.

• Educate and lead the team on medical treatment plans/procedures for clinic animals.

• Be involved with leadership activities, assist with executive decision making.

• Partner with external consultants, shelters, community, etc. to guide future expansion of work.

• Maintain effective and open communication with staff, ensure proper training, and facilitate good relationships with staff/team members.

• Provide high quality veterinary medical and surgical care for animals in accordance with ASV guidelines, with the goal of reducing length of stay (LOS).

• Perform surgeries and procedures such as spay/neuter surgeries, pediatric sterilizations, dental radiography, tumor removal, exploratory procedures, etc.

• Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.

• Create and facilitate a culture of compassionate care for shelter animals.

Qualifications for the Veterinary Medical Director include:

• 8+ years of relevant experience in the veterinary industry.

• Valid State of Florida Veterinary License is required.

• Valid DEA licensure or able/willing to obtain valid licensure is required.

• Certifications or advanced training in shelter medicine is preferred.

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent with zero history of disciplinary action is required.

Compensation for the Veterinary Medical Director includes:

• Salary Range: approximately $160,000 - $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience
