Adobe Animal Hospital is searching for an Experienced Hospital Manager to Help Lead Our Team!

Our hospital is very fast-paced! We see a mix of scheduled appointments like wellness, emergency, ICU, and general practice visits as well a variety of surgeries. This position is perfect for someone who is looking to gain experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine. The Hospital Manager (HM)'s key role is to help oversee the organization's daily administrative functions. These include planning, coordinating, and directing activities such as staffing and strategic planning. The HM will provide operational support across all shifts ensuring that the hospital always has a leader on sight for team and client support. The HM will help coordinate and guide the team through daily tasks and responsibilities and support hospital leadership in maximizing the hospital's productivity and profitability. The HM will work with the Hospital Director, DVMs, Managers, and Team Leads to help ensure effective communication with the hospital staff.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

The balance of time spent on leadership duties and role responsibilities will vary dependent on the hospital situation. The responsibilities listed below are a guide to help build the position in the hospital.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and developing an efficient, productive team that provides the highest quality care and service to pets and clients.

  • Partner with Hospital Leadership in the training and day-to-day supervision of associates to ensure quality medical care, client's excellence, associate engagement and team productivity.

  • Oversee lay staff scheduling and manage staffing costs to budget.

  • Provide effective communication between associates, clients and hospital leadership. Fosters an environment of collaboration, feedback and development

  • Ensure all associates adhere to hospital policies and all state/OSHA laws

  • Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations

  • Develop and maintain training programs, CE requirements and performance management

  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution

  • Ensure the organization's compliance with local, state and federal regulations

  • Have 1:1 time with associates, collaborating with Hospital Leadership team on associate concerns and coaching conversations

  • Support Hospital Leadership in day-to-day operational tasks. This includes understanding the needs of the hospital, revenue growth opportunities and financial metrics

  • Holds regular 1 on 1 check ins with team members to listen, learn, and provides feedback, including performance evaluations and coaching

  • Conduct regular assessments and identify knowledge/skill gaps

  • Develops and implements hospital policy, including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA compliance

  • Resolves client issues and escalations and oversees client follow-up communication as needed

Financial Responsibilities

  • Ensures payroll is accurately completed and submitted for all hospital staff

  • Oversight to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Inventory Management

  • Performs other duties essential to the performance of the hospital as assigned

Skills:

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to flex appropriately as the business dictates

  • Independent problem solving and resolution management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and proven ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork

  • Comfortable with and able to navigate ambiguity

  • Experience with analyzing reporting and data to guide strategic employment planning

  • Demonstrates and reinforces the highest level of client service

  • Multi-functional operations including budget and labor management

  • Basic computer skills i.e., Microsoft Office suite (Previous practice management software knowledge preferred)

  • Previous knowledge of HR policies and protocol development

  • Staff leadership and management including coaching, developing, and motivating staff

  • Delegate responsibility and achieve results through hospital team members

  • Responsible for cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment

  • Model and foster an environment that engages associates, where associates do their best and want to be a part of the team

Qualifications:

  • Full time position. Must be flexible for weekend and holiday support as needed

  • Starting salary will be based on experience with bonus', PTO (Paid Time Off), health benefits, and vet service benefits.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related degree is preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role, including customer service experience.

  • Experience in a hospital setting in positions of increased responsibility is a plus.
