Veterinary Assistant

Veterinary Emergency Group is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for a busy animal hospital. MUST be available to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Job Description:

  • Providing first level customer service
  • Restrain all types of animals, sizes and temperaments.
  • Assist veterinarian and technicians with exams, procedures and Xrays
  • Daily inventory and restocking
  • Provide a clean and comfortable environment for all hospitalized pets
  • Maintain cleanliness and disinfect all areas of the hospital including, but not limited to: laundry, cleaning of floors, taking out trash, cleaning treatment areas and exam rooms, reception area and bathrooms


Job Requirements:

  • Must have experience with dogs and cats in a veterinary environment
  • The ability to learn veterinary software programs. Knowledge of Infinity/ImproMed is a plus!
  • Flexibility and available to work nights, weekends and holidays

Salary commensurate with experience.

Hours of operation are nights, weekends and holidays only. Part-time and Per diem applicants are encouraged to apply!</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities to include but, not limited to: </p><ul> <li>Triaging </li> <li>Knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies and illnesses</li> <li>Assessing patients</li> <li>Recording vitals and assisting doctors with diagnostics, </li> <li>Completing all treatments as instructed by the doctor</li> <li>Basic husbandry and nursing care</li> <li>Monitoring all changes in patients and giving them all the compassionate care they deserve.</li> <li>Taking blood</li> <li>Placing catheters</li> <li>Assisting in and facilitating radiography capture</li> <li>Preparing samples for outside reference labs</li> <li>Running in-house lab work</li> <li>Preparing medications</li> <li>Administering medications </li> <li>Any other field related tasks</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>The ideal candidate will:</p><ul> <li>Be available Nights weekends and Holidays</li> <li>Be able to follow verbal written and electronic instructions</li> <li>Have a minimum of 2 years experience</li> <li>Be able to work well in a fast-paced environment with all personality types</li> <li>Have the ability to learn Infinity/ImproMed</li> <li>Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. </li> </ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Why VEG: Emergency is our thing.
