Veterinary Assistant, Emergency

VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our one-of-a-kind emergency practice!

VCA MECA has been serving the Milwaukee community since 2009. We are open 24/7 to provide emergency and critical care services to a diverse patient base of dogs, cats, small mammals, reptiles and birds. We utilize a collaborative approach to veterinary medicine, with a team dedicated to providing high quality care to pets facing illness and injury.

• Physical examination and patient assessment

• Safe and stress-minimizing patient restraint

• Blood draws and IV catheter placement

• Medication administration

• Surgical preparation, monitoring and recovery

• In-house laboratory and pharmacy work

• Maintaining accurate, detailed patient records

• Professional communication with clients

Schedule: Full time, day shift (6:00am-6:00pm). 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week. Alternating weekends and rotating holidays are required.

Compensation: $18-$25 per hour. Starting range is determined by skill set and years of relevant work experience.
