JOB SUMMARY: Provides case consultations with veterinarians and their staff as it relates to Heska products and services. Provides medical services in support of the health care of animals. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected while performing a variety of tasks.


Medical and Technical Support and Case Consultation:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Heska's products and services.

  • Medical consultations on cases that may encompass, for example, areas of infectious diseases, atopy/dermatology, internal medicine, and clinical pathology.

  • Interpretation of diagnostic laboratory results.

  • Review of atopy/dermatology patient history and diagnostic laboratory results to assist with immunotherapy treatment recommendations.

  • Responsible for inbound and outbound calls regarding patient-specific immunotherapy. This will include discussing results/allergen recommendations, accurately adjusting ingredients when requested by the clinic, and discussing standard protocols and pricing for injectable and oral immunotherapy.

  • Discussion of in-clinic point of care diagnostic tests in the context of individual case management (protocols, specificity/sensitivity, further work-up, etc.).

  • Troubleshooting of technical issues and resolution of customer complaints with veterinarians and their staff as it relates to Heska products and services.

  • Diligent, accurate record keeping within a customer relationship management database system.

  • Promoting general health care and disease prevention.

  • Knowledge of zoonotic diseases and emerging diseases.

  • Knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations.

  • Works well independently within a team environment and is open to input from colleagues.

  • Marketing/Sales Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Marketing to create educational tools for customers to promote their understanding of how to integrate allergy into their practice.Review and Approval of VDL Results: 5% of position responsibility

  • Review and approve Heska's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory clinical results prior to transmission to submitting veterinarian.

  • Doctorate degree in veterinary medicine, licensed to practice in Colorado. Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience required.

  • Must possess analytical, problem solving, and excellent communication skills, especially good listening skills.

  • Team player with a strong customer focus.

  • Experience and/or special interest in allergy and infectious disease is desirable.

  • Must be prepared to move to a corporate environment where daily interaction is done over the phone while sitting in front of a computer.

  • Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management or similar database software programs is desired.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with great attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • 3-5 years of industry experience in a similar role is desired.


  • Proven ability to think quickly to provide reasonable medical input/recommendations during phone consults.

  • Ability to display empathy while maintaining professionalism.

  • Consistently displays a calm demeanor when dealing with multiple consults, phone/email/fax requests as well as customer complaints. Willing to work cohesively and share in the workload with both fellow veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and make recommendations based on history/presentation provided via phone/email.

  • Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Software, E-mail, and CRM database.

  • Collaborate with Product Manager to identify educational tools to facilitate patient care.
