Be a part of the opening of our new building - the Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans' Nursing Home. The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and dedicated licensed Nursing Home Administrator to lead the Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans' Nursing Home in Orlando, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility that will soon be home to those who gave their all in service of our country.

The following are required and must be verifiable:

  • Valid State of Florida Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) Licensure.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience as a Nursing Home Administrator in a long-term care facility with a history of strong regulatory compliance.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in leadership and management of a skilled nursing home.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and proven ability to lead.

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel and Word.

  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug screen.


To receive preference, the following must be verifiable:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience as a Florida Nursing Home Administrator in a long-term care facility with a history of strong regulatory compliance.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience of leadership and management in a skilled nursing home.

  • Possess current Florida Registered Nurse Licensure.


The incumbent is a duly licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Florida and reports directly to the Homes Program Director. This position has complete oversight and responsibility for clinical and fiscal operations of the facility (to include but not limited to: budgetary management, maintenance, all business office functions) and ensure effective management of human services while optimizing resident, family and employee outcome.

Responsible for all departmental services provided in the home including, administrative, medical, nursing, financial, environmental, dietary and maintenance.

Responsible for the implementation of all Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs policies, standards/ procedures and ensures compliance by all departments.

Ensures compliance with established clinical and professional standards and with all state and federal survey guidelines.

Administers the fiscal operations of the facility to include financial policies and standards, budget development, management of budget controls and cost containment program, enhanced revenue streams, and direct oversight of all business office functions.

Responsible for a marketing plan for the facility that ensures that resident census performance standards are met consistently.

Responsible for the development of the facility Disaster Plan and ensures that the facility is prepared for any emergency situation.

Responsible for all human resource functions to ensure a qualified, trained staff in all departments.

Responsible for the maintenance of the physical plant and grounds, ensuring a clean and attractive facility free of all internal and external hazards.

Serves as the Privacy Officer for the facility ensuring compliance with all HIPAA regulations and maintains strict compliance with all applicable privacy and confidentiality polices and standards.

Promotes community involvement and develops community contacts. Encourages families and community groups to participate in facility activities and is actively involved with the resident council.

Conducts an annual resident/family survey and ensures continuous improvement based on the survey results.

Maintains a working knowledge of all facility computer systems.

This position is in the Selected Exempt Service system.
