Veterans Services Representatives advise and advocate for veterans and individuals currently serving in the United States armed forces who are State residents, their spouses, widows, widowers, children, dependents, estate and personal representatives.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) is recruiting for a Veterans Services Representative 2 Supervisor position geographically located in Reno, Nevada.
This position is responsible for full supervision, evaluation, and discipline of a team that is designated for advocating on behalf of Veterans.
Veterans Services Representatives conduct interviews, develop evidence, review files and participate in appeal hearings.
Duties include communicating with the public, rural outreach, adhering to compliance and regulations, conducting training, discipline, scheduling, conflict resolution, and administrative tasks.
The incumbent will attend mandatory meetings, training courses and Veterans Advocacy and Support Team (VAST) continuing education training requirements.
The selected candidate must be eligible for National Service Organization accreditation as required in accordance with standard operating procedures and must attain and maintain NDVS Veteran's Services Officer (VSO) certification.
Out of town outreach for Rural Outreach for Veterans Enrichment and Resources (ROVER) assignments may require travel in excess of 50 miles and up to 25% of the time.
As such, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
The selected candidate may be required to work overtime and alternative work schedules or flex time to include weekends.
This includes working on short notice in case of emergencies, staff shortage issues, etc.
This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills.
