Job Summary

Job Summary

The position will provide specialized and general clerical and technical support to the cemetery administrator, including administrative, logistical, and analytical activities related to the interment of qualified Veterans, their spouses, and dependent children at a state veterans cemetery. Perform extensive public contact by telephone, and in person, often requiring the ability to deal with decedents' immediate family in times of emotional crisis. The nature of a cemetery and the manner in which different people view death requires great sensitivity. This position requires cemetery administrative duties that may include outdoor tasks in various inclement weather conditions.

This position is located in Saginaw, MN which is approximately 20 miles west of Duluth and 150 miles north of the Twin Cities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Math skills sufficient to process billing, and place order for headstones

  • Word processing and keyboarding skills sufficient to: draft and respond to correspondence and inquiries; write memos; prepare correspondence; create, prepare, and maintain documents and reports

  • Spreadsheet development and maintenance sufficient to track burials and customer satisfaction questionnaires

  • Data Base Management sufficient to maintain records, files, and information databases and to prepare reports upon request

  • English skills sufficient to communicate clearly and accurately

  • Communication and customer service skills sufficient to establish relationships with a broad range of internal and external customers, the general public, and agency management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced word processing

  • Advanced spreadsheet development

  • One year of administrative support experience

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Access experience

  • Experience maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and appointments

  • Public speaking experience sufficient to represent the Cemetery at committal services or special events
