Position Overview:

This position will focus on developing working relationships with Veteran job readiness community partners and internal departments as well as developing strong new employee Veteran programs. Additional focus will be on retaining talent within the organization as well as creating a resource for diversified recruitments and Veteran internship programs within the city. The ability to create a robust Veteran training programs for departments to develop initiatives to recruit and retain a culturally diverse and inclusive workforce. Consistently put our inclusive hiring principles into practice and advocating for all Veteran career job seekers. You will also work cross-functionally with a variety of different key stakeholders and teams to implement sourcing strategies to help us achieve our Equality goals and be a part of creating an Inclusive workforce.

Pay Range

$33.05 to $42.14

  • Friday; 8:00 a.m.

  • 5:00 p.m.

Telework opportunities may be available after an initial training period. Work schedules must be at least 50% hybrid in the office within a two (2) week period and are implemented to meet the requirements of the department and are subject to change based on business needs.

Hours may vary depending on work demands and business needs.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with full cycle technical recruiting and/or Veteran recruiting experience with deep knowledge of factors contributing to current landscape and motivators in the university, veteran, or other diversity related spaces.

  • Experience consulting in a current or previous role. This includes providing advice, services and assistance to employee's managers regarding human resources management programs and interpreting Federal/State policies affecting Veterans.

  • Ability to travel to more than one work location.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates City Veteran programs with internal stakeholders in the development and administration of veteran programs for employees within the City.

  • Serves as in-house resource to departments and staff on all issues related to veteran affairs.

  • Monitors City compliance with City, State, and Federal laws by conducting audits, on-site visits, and surveys of all City departments.

  • Develops and implements education and training programs to make City staff aware of and sensitive to issues surrounding veteran services.

  • Manages internship programs with partner organizations that focus on placing exiting soldiers from the military.

  • Studies existing and new employment legislation and Federal, State, and Local Legal requirements; ensures adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.

  • Prepares, receives, and reviews statistical and programmatic reports; monitors programs; and interprets findings. Evaluates current programs, procedures, and practices on an ongoing basis.

  • Plans and develops policies, procedures, and programs to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of operations and services.

  • Attends events to recruit veterans to City positions.
