Hours
40 per week: typically 7:30 - 4:30, schedule is a 5 day work week including Weekends & Holidays.
Will work two days independently with no Vet onsite
A day in the life of a Vet Tech team member:
Assist with maintaining the Animal Health program
Schedule & assist with preventative maintenance
Participate in medical procedures
Prep equipment for surgery, immobilization, and anesthesia
Prep animals for surgery
Test equipment per-surgery
Provide animal care for patients in hospital and undergoing quarantine
Set up housing
Treatments as prescribed
Cleaning, feeding, and enrichment
Provide laboratory services
Maintain the Parasitology schedule for the animals
Sample collection, processing, shipments, and transfers
Maintain the Pharmacy
Track inventory of medical supplies
Purchase and restock
Dispose of expired inventory
Vet Tech attributes and skills:
Amazing ability to connect with people and animals
Contributes positively to the workplace and communicates/interacts effectively
with all persons including coworkers, volunteers, and visitors.
Performs additional duties, as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Along with the ability, be able to bend, lift, pull, twist, push, squat, and drag. Have good "hand/ eye" coordination.
Ability to routinely lift, carry, or move fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to stand and sit for periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Ability to regularly walk assigned areas several times per day and efficiently enter all enclosures.
Ability to safely handle and operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary to conduct assigned tasks.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions; the environment may include wet, icy, or muddy conditions.
Have good time management while showing productivity.
