Vertica Customer Solutions Manager (US - REMOTE)

Job Description:

This job is Remote U.S. based, from any location.

Be part of the Vertica team at Micro Focus helping provide world-class services and technology consulting to external customers and internal project teams.

You would be responsible for partnering with Vertica sales and presales teams to help understand customer needs, position Vertica Professional Services (PS) offerings and craft the right PS approach to ensure customer success. For select services engagements, you will be part of managing delivery and being the coordinating point of contact between customers and Vertica PS. Services engagements in the big data space range from accelerating the use of Vertica to architecting and implementing cutting edge Machine Learning use cases.


  • Engaging with Vertica sales and presales teams to understand customer needs and position Vertica Professional Services options accordingly.

  • Where appropriate, define and refine Statement of Work (SOW) documents to craft a services approach that aligns to customer business and technical needs.

  • Work with Vertica Account Executives to process services engagements through Micro Focus operations and customer procurement processes.

  • For smaller scope and/or package-based services offerings, serve as Technical Project Manager for the creation of core project plans, timelines and coordination with customer teams.

  • Create curated presentations and customer facing artifacts that tie business outcomes and value to Vertica Professional Services engagements.

  • Liaise with Vertica Support, Field, and Engineering teams as appropriate.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in Business, Computer Information Systems or, other business or technology field of study.

  • Experience defining project and services scope for customer engagements to include the creation of Statement of Work and related artifacts.

  • Project Management experience; Scrum, PMI or other certification preferred.

  • Experience operating with or as part of Agile software development teams.

  • Experience scoping and managing Data Warehouse, Machine Learning, or modern analytics (data centric) projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Senior level client/customer facing skills.

  • Senior level writing and oral delivery skills.

  • Functional knowledge of modern Data Warehousing technology and concepts.
