Vermont Works For Women

Founded in 1987, VWW is working to create an equitable Vermont where people of all identities and backgrounds have equal access to opportunities and to thrive economically - where they make confident, deliberate choices about life and work that reflect an expansive grasp of what's possible. VWW engages women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals in innovative career education and exploration programs to help them overcome barriers, build confidence, and prepare for meaningful employment.

VWW supports girls and gender-expansive youth to access and experience the full array of learning and career opportunities available to them through summer camps, afterschool programs, career exploration events at local tech centers, and an annual conference. Each program focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, empowering environment where girls and gender-expansive youth debunk gender stereotypes and get hands-on experience in nontraditional (STEM, skilled trades) career fields. VWW supports women and gender-expansive individuals to pursue their career and financial goals - whatever they may be - and be economically independent.

VWW achieves this through employment and career services for individuals 16+ through 1-on-1 coaching and virtual workshops, skilled trades training for women and gender-expansive folks, employment, and re-entry services for incarcerated women. VWW has evolved from being solely a direct service organization to expanding our work to include gender equity services and advocacy to enact systems-level change. Our aim is to reduce the barriers to economic security that our participants face and support policies and solutions that make Vermont a more equitable state to live and work.

We provide gender equity services for employers and schools, and testimony to the legislature on policies and budgets impacting Vermont women and youth. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
