The Vendor Data Council Transformation Lead is a critical project role representing Commercial as part of the BTO (the BTO will lead the Digital Transformation for Data & Analytics). The role is responsible for engaging the Commercial function globally to work together to standardize data and enable analytics to improve decision quality, efficiency and analysis & insights capabilities. The role will lead the Vendor Data Council of the BTO for Data (to define corporate vs. segment standardized data elements and develop a strategy to maintain data quality) and Analytics (to initially define corporate vs. segment standardized KPI calculations and develop cross-segment reporting capabilities and then shift to advanced analytics that support the business for the digital age).
This Associate will need to be a transformational leader willing to do the detailed work required to achieve the inspiring vision of the Data & Analytics part of Digitalizing Mars. The scope of the role will cover Vendor Data and Taxonomy and data such as Material Groups and Product categories.
The role will need to inspire the global Commercial community regarding the possibilities that high quality enterprise data and analytics will unlock for Mars.
It will be critical to manage a clear and shared vision and purpose for the function
A clear view of intended new standards and way of operating
Define where common data and metrics/calculations are required
Define where unique segment or market approaches must be preserved
Work with the Mars Commercial Leadership Team to establish:
A Leadership mandate of the common vision
Sufficient dedicated project resources to drive the desired outcome
Meaningful and sustained engagement from market and segment stakeholders and experts
Clear decision rights
Aligned cross-functional and cross-segment working teams processes
Lead the work to define and deploy the new standards
Work with the Mars IS to agree a pragmatic phased rollout of the new standards
Program manage the implementation of standards across the function
Establish required data organization to govern and properly maintain data quality going forwards
Lead the work to communicate and train the changes across the function
Specific deliverables include data harmonization and metrics harmonization with clear Corporate vs. Segment standards. These deliverables must be achieved while supporting data and capability needs of other functions to build our data and systems foundations needed to digitalize Mars. It will be important to seek further organizational efficiencies and identify opportunities to drive broader benefits as the work is performed.
This role will lead the Vendor Data Council of the BTO. These will define cross-enterprise data and analytics standards and drive segment adoption of standards and resulting business process changes. Analytics is still being defined and will have an initial phase plus the shift to advanced analytics that support the business for the digital age. The draft responsibilities for the Vendor Data Council include to:
Define use cases that require Vendor data and help prioritize them
Build data dictionary containing the data elements required to enable these use cases
Determine which data elements will need to be harmonized across Segments, and for those, determine which IT and business changes will need to be implemented
Define rules to perform data de-duplication between data repositories
Define data quality rules Establish ongoing data organization
This role is responsible for any planning, resourcing and budgeting related to this work, in coordination and agreement with the BTO. This role is also responsible for liaising with Commercial function and market stakeholders and business owners regarding timelines and activity plans outlining work required by segment and other teams.
Education & Professional Qualification
Masters Degree program in Business Administration or equivalent work experience
Certification in Effective business Change/Business Process Management including process mapping, six sigma etc (is preferred)
Demonstrated credibility in the [xxx] function and an established network across multiple segments and functions
Strong track record of delivering transformation projects as project champion with large-scale project management skills applied to systems and data projects, process changes, and organizational changes
Demonstrated ability for strong management, organization, communications, analytic and presentation skills
Very high level of attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High level of comfort presenting to senior management
Consistently demonstrates common sense and judgment
Strong, flexible team player that works to meet both personal and organization goals
