Our client has recently inherited support of an application that is primarily developed in VB.Net and Microsoft SQL (using SQL stored procedures extensively). This was an application that was built by an outside party contracted directly by the company s business team. In line with this, they need someone to do the following:
review the code/functionality
generate technical documentation on what " is so it can be supported
Initially, the work is focused simply on this discovery, documentation, and stabilization once the base technical understanding of the application is established, a decision on disposition will be made:
transition the function to another similar application already existing in-house
rewrite part or all the application
or look to purchase a replacement application (really, all options are open depending on what is found during the discovery phase).
This is for a server-based application, not a web application. (Best if the candidate has worked extensively on client/server.)
Key requirements for this person will be as follows:
Extremely strong .Net development skills required, primarily VB.Net.
Extremely strong Microsoft SQL development skills, especially strong on stored procedures.
Strong leader skills work independently; someone who can take the reins and run with them and doesn t need a lead to look over their shoulder all the time. Also, someone who will speak up when they see/find issues/concerns, can find and present recommendations for improvements, etc.
Strong XML, WinForms, and WCF skills/knowledge.
Knowledge/experience with Subversion and Microsoft Access a plus.
