This position is responsible for a team of employees that handle management of claims in a multi-disciplined environment.
Individual is responsible for developing the technical claims management, judgment and decision making skills of claims professionals that report to this position. Responsible for both short and long term strategic, performance and development planning for employees, and the subsequent execution of those plans.
In addition to overseeing the team's performance and development needs, this position has responsibility for achieving a high level of customer service satisfaction while ensuring claims practices and procedures are in compliance with all procedural, contractual, and state mandated risk management guidelines as well as regulatory constraints for all product offerings.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Accountable for accurate adjudication of assigned claims according to contract/plan provisions, established procedures, state regulations and appropriate risk management.
Perform file reviews and complete milestone signoffs per claims protocols for direct report staff.
Accountable for management of claims, ensuring that generally accepted industry protocols are applied to manage claims to appropriate levels.
Manage team performance to expectations for service standards for timeliness, accuracy, and claims management in a candid, constructive and timely manner. This includes providing employee feedback on performance (results + leadership), rewarding, recognizing and/or coaching to improve performance as appropriate.
Interview, hire, develop and retain qualified candidates.
Establish and maintain a supportive learning environment by ensuring continuous development, training and growth toward goal of professional, experienced claims specialist.
Identify and implement ongoing productivity and quality enhancements in a fast-paced environment. This includes assessing productivity level, taking action and/or making recommendations based on current and forecasted capacity.
Monitor results and trends, address issues/concerns that could impact profitability; report concerns that extend beyond span of control; act or recommend solutions as appropriate.
Lead/and or participate in projects, presentations, product development and sales organization training and support activities.
Identify and implement ongoing customer service, productivity and quality enhancements in a fast-paced environment.
Operate effectively and efficiently to ensure team/department manages to budget.
Collaborate effectively with both internal and external key stakeholders, business partners and peers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
May serve as back up for Director/AVP during absences.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
