Vave Program Engineer

Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a VAVE Program Engineer.

This role is based in Horseheads, NY. Relocation assistance will be provided.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year.

What you'll do:

The Senior VA/VE Engineer will take on hands-on, self-directed approach, executing on engineering-related activities for top Cost Out projects and/or Value Analysis-Value Engineering Projects (VA/VE). The engineer will increase value through cost elimination while maintaining product integrity for electrical assemblies. This position will proactively identify and document waste opportunities across the Value Stream in pipeline building activities: suppliers / materials, logistics, product, manufacturing process, expenses / supplies, services and others.

Essential Functions:

• Work with the VAVE engineering leads and managers to develop and support the Cost out Strategy for PCD Business Unit. (Profit Plan / Strat. Plan).

• Identify, support, and execute Plant and Product Management top cost out activities/Projects where needed using Cost Out templates for basic project management, including project charter, financial assessment, 4-up, and schedule.

• Lead Engineering efforts on critical direct material cost-out projects, including idea development, prototype, sample preparation, project execution, and plant/business system implementation

• Use manufacturing/supply chain/finance information to validate cost savings opportunities.

• Provide technical soundness of design decisions and products changes to facilitate manufacturing, reduce cost, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special customer needs.

• Request and maintains on-track the capital spending/appropriation and expenses required for the project.

• Supports the organizational capacity, training, and development plan to achieve the required level of knowledge of the product & processes changes.

• Ensures product quality/performance on CTQ's is not compromised.

• Coordinates and executes appropriate testing of product changes and sees through to approval, including functional, life testing, certification (ex: UL), PPAP, etc.

• Participates in negotiations with suppliers, developing Request for Quote drawing packaging, evaluating quotes for parts, tools, and services.

• Prevent and correct manufacturing issues that affect product function ability.

• Report out performance on project status to cost out leads and managers using various communication methods, including use of Cost Out GPS, escalating when issues arise that affect the project critical path

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

• Three years of experience in an engineering position, with a strong emphasis on maintenance of line and design.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

• Relocation Assistance will be provided to candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Horseheads, NY.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data mining

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience with Lean Six Sigma Tools

• Knowledge in Project Management and Process Control
