Eaton's Lighting Division is currently seeking a Senior VAVE Engineer to be part of our Peachtree City or Midtown ATL team.

Primary Responsibility:

The VAVE Engineer performs a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, testing and evaluation of components, equipment and systems used in lighting products and related control systems. This position will work closely with other disciplines in the development and timely completion of projects to include the planning and scheduling, cost analysis, evaluation of alternatives, design review, management review, tooling release and production release.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and submits project plans and schedules for assigned work and submits project reports as requested to allow for management review.

  • Develops performance specifications, conducts reviews, and evaluates performance tests of designed components, assemblies, or systems to assure that completed work meets specifications.

  • Coordinates with the prototype shop and/or outside vendors the production of prototypes, to include initial and final prototypes, establishing feasibility of the device or system.

  • Coordinates the development of final product documentation, for release to Manufacturing, to include drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and computer releases.

  • Acts as a liaison with existing or potential vendors regarding tooling and part-cost related to projects.

  • Participates in the Project Level Design Review conferences.

  • Informs all appropriate personnel of the department's plans, programs, and operations that affect their areas, and maintains an awareness of developments in the field that relates to their job responsibilities and integrates them into own practices.

  • Keeps abreast of the state-of-the-art in the areas of lighting components, sensors, ballasts, transformers, drivers, LED's, and control systems

  • Searches for new materials, technologies and processes which would improve product performance and/or value.

  • Estimates engineering personnel needs to execute assigned projects.

  • Special projects as required by management.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • 3 years of mechanical or electronic product design experience

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50 mile radius of work location will be considered

Preferred Qualifications (Not required to be qualified for the job).

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Knowledge of CAD and SolidWorks experience

  • Knowledge of ERP systems with SAP experience being a plus.

  • Knowledge of LED for general lighting

  • Knowledge of UL/CSA/NOM/CE standards

Field Service Engineer will also gather data utilizing specific reports and Intelligrated procedures, and supply various forms and custom reports to the customer to assist in sales of parts and service contracts. As necessary, Field Service Engineer will assist with the field training of new employees and may receive in-house assignments covering technical support, training, or documentation. Discuss objectives with the customer when on-site. Develop or follow a schedule for completion of objectives while on-site. Perform or assist with mechanical and electrical installation or modification to Intelligrated and Legacy equipment. Troubleshoot and debug all issues including mechanical, electrical, or programming using the provided drawings, direction or write sections of the PLC program. Modify, adjust, or develop robotic application code. Mark-up drawings (Red Line) with any updates or changes as required. Communicate issues, successes, and delays with the Customer, project manager, team members and regional management daily. This may include but not exclusive to Electronic Issue Reports. Participate in a closeout meeting with the Office and the Customer at completion of each assignment. Write a detailed daily / weekly report for each job location and send to the office. Complete a weekly electronic expense report and send in the receipts to the office. Send all copies of programs, redline drawings, and weekly reports to the office for proper archival at completion of job.
